I use my Alexa speaker, connected to Bluetooth for computer audio.
I just noticed that, when I went to adjust the volume, using the volume control in the system tray. the volume never changed...
Why is the volume button not working?
Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Supposing you're using kmix, here at least there is a "mixer" button at the bottom and clicking on it shows several mixers, some which seem to control inexistant (or not working) outputs: Pulse audio, HD-Audio generic, usb pnp audio device (I don't have a usb audio device).
Anyway, it may be that you are not actually controlling the devuce you want.

Hi Thierry,
I tried all of these buttons in the attached photo ( and even the buttons in the other tabs ) and none of them change the volume of the speaker.
Thanks,
Chris

Then I hope someone on the list has more experience with bluetooth speakers than I have. Can you control the speaker sound with another desktop than TDE?
My speakers are still wired (as are my mouse and my keyboard). My global experience with bluetooth is very bad, but I know lots of people who use the technology.

Yes, volume control worked fine in LMDE 6.
Thanks,
Chris

I had a similar issue, where the default mixer would always be set to the onboard sound and not my current sound device, often had to set the default device every login, I don't remember the solution as I've since switched to wmamixer but if I figure out any more I will let you know. Bluetooth devices are technically considered additional sound cards so it makes sense this would happen.
You can also use the newer kmix from Plasma if you already have that installed. Seems to work better but ofc the interface doesnt fit in quite as well.

Here you can see the 4 "sound devices" kmix proposes to me.
Pulse audio and the second HD Generic work. What USB pnp is I don't know.

Oh wow, I don't even have that drop down to choose mixers. I'm having to manually control the volume by using the +/- button on the Alexa device itself.
