I suppose it would be up to the list moderator. Why should those who do not write English well be entirely excluded? There is a natural incentive to use English if one can in that using another language will generally reduce the number of people who can respond. On the other hand, if you do not speak English at all, at least some answers are better than none! Peace - John

I suppose that would be up to the list moderator. There is a natural incentive to use English; if one uses another language, usually there are fewer people who can respond to the query. On the other hand, if one does not know English well, a limited number of answers is better than not being able to ask at all so I would hope we would welcome non-English queries from those who do not speak English. Those of us who are mono-lingual anglophones will just not be able to respond. Peace - John

Sorry for the double post. My email client malfunctioned and told me it failed to send the first one :(

My German is not very good, but I think you are asking about the German translations for Trinity? If so, you may want to install the kde-i18n-de-kde3 package (or similar, the package name depends on your Linux distribution).
If this was not what you were asking please let me know.
Tim
Hi Tim,

this one is installed as well as some others which are apparently not connected with kde3. E.g. If I right-click on the desktop, and choose the last item "Abmelden/logout(?)", the next window appears in english. If I click on the K-button, mearly everything is in english. ...

Did you upgrade this system from an earlier version of Trinity (e.g. 3.5.11), or is it a brand new installation?
Hi Tim,

well, on this page: http://trinity.pearsoncomputing.net/ I clicked on Ubuntu Karmic and below [Legacy] 3.5.10 Installation Instructions and followed the instrucktions for Karmic. I see the problem now. I'll try Lucid now, and let you know. I hate those names people are using instead of numbers.

That makes more sense now; language support was only repaired in Trinity 3.5.12, which is available for the following distributions and codenames: Ubuntu Maverick (10.10) Debian Lenny (5.0.6) Debian Squeeze Slackware 12.2
All older versions (for example Juanty, Karmic, and Lucid) most likely have broken language support, with the symptoms that you have described.
Hope this helps!
Tim

I installed this one, and it looks pretty good.
Hi Tim,
is it a brand new installation?
I think it is. As I wrote this morning I followed the installation instructions, and I used the Lucid repositories.
