Where do I find the start up file(s) in oder to edit them. Debian Wheezy and 3.10.13.2.
I _have_ STFW, RTFM (see my other plea for help). Google has a passion for KDE4. Pity I don't share it.
Thanks. Lisi
What are you looking for? If I remember correct, the session init files are in .trinity/share/config/session. TDM init files are in /etc/trinity/tdm.

I made the mistake of having a look at Fat Rat. I had a look at quite a few FTP applications. Now that ******** FatRat won't go away. I only looked at it once! How do I get rid of it?

No sign of FatRat. I don't think. See attached.
TDM init files are in /etc/trinity/tdm.
I don't seem to have that file.

There is also .trinity/Autostart, plus i think trinity honors .config/autostart, plus theoretically it can also start from .xsession
Also /opt/trinity/share/autostart for non-user specific autostart

For a download manager you could look at Filezilla.
My .trinity/share/config/session has no files, but .trinity/share/config has rc config files for (maybe all) the kde/tde apps.
The /etc/trinity/tdm folder should have some major config files (like tdmrc) and shell scripts. If it is missing, then maybe problems.

We are going with gFTP. But thanks for the suggestion.

/etc/trinity/kdm doh! I was getting the computer to search. Ask it to search for "t", it'll search for "t". Not "k". :-(

That's bad! Ok, you know the name of the executable? Maybe the whole path? Then :
fgrep "FatRat" ~ -R fgrep "/path/to/FatRat" ~ -R
If it does not show up:
fgrep "FatRat" / -R fgrep "/path/to/FatRat" / -R
Once upon a time I had such a pestilence called "youtrack" that installed itself in /etc/inittab ...

Thanks all for all the ideas. I have to catch the post now (sorry, mail), but I'll have a good old rat hunt later.
Doh! Doh! <smacks forehead as light dawns> All I have to do is purge the wretched thing, and it won't be able to self-start, even if purging doesn't quite clear it!

One more... I use 'locate' or 'slocate' to find <stuff>. locate uses an index, kept current with 'updatedb' ..a cron job or run from the cli. I have found stuff left over from a purge..of TDE .

I have another of these delightfully persistent beasts. I got rid of the last one by unistalling it. But this is KsCD.
It is in <.trinity/share/config/session>. I have deleted it three times. Three times it has reinstated itself. Grrrrrrr.
Help!
Is it crucial to my use of CDs or can I just uninstall it?
If I can't uninstall it, how do I make it stay deleted from <.trinity/share/config/session>? It is obviously (re)instating itself as part of the shutdown process, so where do I look?
This appears to be the result of my latest update. I.e., it has never happened before!
Thanks, Lisi
Hm ... do you have "restore last session" activated under session management? If yes, then kill all unwanted programs and save the session manually. Then select "restore manually saved session" (loose translation from german), log out and log in again. Then you might change back to "restore last session".
Anyway, I changed my settings to use "empty session" on logon a while back - there's no session management under FVWM on FreeBSD :-)

Turn off session restore Reboot. Open the things I usually want restored. Turn on session restore. All is now well. Thanks very much, Niki.
