Hi,
after update a devuan ascii installation with the latest trinity update I get messeges from the x11 system wich says: "The r14-xdg-update script will attempt to repair the problems found during the previous sessions..."
Wenn click on "Continue" a new windos shows the message: "Some Trinity profile R14 XDG complaince updates failed. Check application-tdemenuedit.menue for '<Filename>kde-' in /var/tmp/tdecache-USER-r14-xdg-updte-violation-test9.txt"
Named File has the entry: "<Filename>kde-potracegui.desktop</Filename>" twice
When accept the shown message a new with "The r14-xdg-update script did not complete sucessfully... The error code is 9..."
This messages come up every time I log in - so the promised repair did not realy work.
What can I do to solve the error
Menay thanks for any help Rolf

Only problem is, now I get twice as many emails, the emotional toll has doubled, and I can't keep up any more.
I am getting duplicates from most people now, but I discovered something interesting in Nik's emails. (See attachments for comparison.)
We must remember to correct our "reply to" fields, etc. I create template emails to use, which is a wee bother as there is no shortcut, and its a slippery gui to navigate, for me to get to the TDE-NEW-mailing_list template, but maybe I'll create a shortcut. Once I've sent, any replies take care of themselves, I believe, and all the correct headers are in place.
You'll notice that, with Nik's headers, something is amiss.

In order for the ML Migration Agent to pass posts between old and new MLs, he must send them using his migration agent address. Therefore, you can see the address of the migration agent on the forwarded posts instead of the original sender.

No, I mean the "reply to" field. This field say "reply to" the old list where the outgoing address is the new list; and vice-versa where the outgoing address is the old list.
I am trying to set up a template for myself, where the "reply to" field is the new list (so that our own email addresses are not published for the whole world to see).

What I meant was, *your* headers are reversed.
TDE-users has trinity-users as "reply to" address; trinity-users has TDE-users and Nik (if I recall) as "reply to" addresses.
It is not a problem with the list, but I think Nik is sending out too much information on the old list. In the new list, his "reply to" gives the old list. I'm not complaining about the list; I am pointing out those details that Nik might not want.
Myself, I keep trying to make an email template, just for use on TDE-users, and I give sample screenshots here. But when I've attempted to send recent emails to the list, they stay in my outbox, and I am told that they cannot be sent due to unknown mail transport or something. I believe that means my Zoho mail account is being rejected for smtp, or is rejecting my emails to TDE-users, or something.
This is why I do not like change; even though I do know that it will happen despite all my best efforts to maintain order.

That's funny. I just hit "l" in kmail, type my stuff and send it. If my email got deleted on my side of the transfer, then I'd get a bounce from my provider. So some gremlin is eating my domain name - just whoe does dislike me that much?
I've heared rumours about Kate building voodoo dolls. Aren't pets part of these dolls? Or was that chickens? ... I remember, chicken blood was art of the game. And when it's set ... can be used in deliciouse dishes of the "Hirn auf Ei" (brain on egg) kind ... now I'm hungry ...
Nik

What are you doing different than everyone else?
I keep getting your mails with,
From: "Dr. Nikolaus Klepp" <office@{delete}.{delete}>
and not like:
From: "Michael via tde-users" users@trinitydesktop.org From: "Slávek Banko via tde-users" users@trinitydesktop.org
You're messing up my KMail filters, so fix it! Or I'll sick Kate on you, I'm soon to be her pet I hear ;) {Pet status has some privileges, right?}
That's funny. I just hit "l" in kmail, type my stuff and send it. If my email got deleted on my side of the transfer, then I'd get a bounce from my provider. So some gremlin is eating my domain name - just whoe does dislike me that much?
Playing echo box: I get the mails from users@trinitydesktop.org with my complete email inside the mail header, so "from" is "Dr. Nikolaus Klepp" office@klepp.biz. This raises an even more interesting question: why is my email address changed on the path from ML to your mail client? Is it only my email? Who else has that problem?
Nik
I've heared rumours about Kate building voodoo dolls. Aren't pets part of these dolls? Or was that chickens? ... I remember, chicken blood was art of the game. And when it's set ... can be used in deliciouse dishes of the "Hirn auf Ei" (brain on egg) kind ... now I'm hungry ...
Nik
Best, Michael

Take the mail that comes from "trinity-users@..." and unsubscribe. Same thing happend to me some days ago :)

Bill
Hm ... mail harvesters scan the whole header, so there's no point in hiding the obviouse, I think :)

The mailing list (mailman3) is set so that the sender's information is changed only if keeping it unchanged could be the cause of a delivery problem - for example due to SPF, DKIM signature, etc.
Therefore, you can see that some sender addresses remain unchanged and for some "via tde-users" is added and the mailing list address is used as the sender's address.
For filtering, it is best to use the "List-Id" header, which is always set the same - regardless of whether DMARC mitigation is used or not.

Your posts are evading my sieve filter too. Every other post from the list goes through the filter and is delivered to my Trinity folder.
Not in a position to check why at the moment but you may end up in my 'Kill File' at this rate. 😁

As I mentioned in another email in this thread - for filtering it is best to test the List-Id header to see if it contains a mailing list identifier - users.trinitydesktop.org, devels.trinitydesktop.org, announcements.trinitydesktop.org or commits.trinitydesktop.org
Cheers
This problem seems to have returned. Has anybody else noticed it?
After upgrading packages about a week ago, everything seemed to run fine until I started having very strange network issues. I rebooted, and got this same message as I remember from some old threads.
For myself, it was resolved for me nearly a year ago, but now it's back again.
Anybody else?
Bill

Hi,
after update a devuan ascii installation with the latest trinity update I get messeges from the x11 system wich says: "The r14-xdg-update script will attempt to repair the problems found during the previous sessions..."
Wenn click on "Continue" a new windos shows the message: "Some Trinity profile R14 XDG complaince updates failed. Check application-tdemenuedit.menue for '<Filename>kde-' in /var/tmp/tdecache-USER-r14-xdg-updte-violation-test9.txt"
Named File has the entry: "<Filename>kde-potracegui.desktop</Filename>" twice
When accept the shown message a new with "The r14-xdg-update script did not complete sucessfully... The error code is 9..."
This messages come up every time I log in - so the promised repair did not realy work.
What can I do to solve the error
This problem has been discussed two or three times on this list. Search the ML archives or have a look at this thread (r14-xdg-update script error when TDM is starting TDE, 30.3.2020): http://trinity-users.pearsoncomputing.net/?0::16852

Yes, me too. An odd "<Filename>kde-" line somehow reappeared ^^^ in "$USER_DIR/.config/menus/applications-tdemenuedit.menu". That was test #9. Solution is as it were: delete the lines with "kde-"-something in that file.

Every other problem on your system seems to very mysteriously be connected with very strange network behaviour… Maybe let a powerful shaman drive these daemons out of your box with some kind of ritual… ;-)
Kind regards, Stefan
