Hello all,
I'm probably in a very bad day, but I'd like to create a distribution list in kAddressBook and I fail to understand how.
I have my addresses and I click "add distribution list".
I get a dialog box where I can give the list a name, and an entry field labeled "Distribution List Members".
What are we supposed to input there?
I tried copy/paste but it only sort of pastes the first address. Select and drop does not work. kAddressBook's help does not help here either.
I suppose (I hope) that there *is* a way to create a distribution list from selected addresses in teh address book, otherwise it is not really useful...
What am I missing?

The way I have found to work, so far, I start tying the address into the add member field..a drop down list appears with names to choose from that match. My excperience with copy paste/drag drop same as yours.
This is on my todo list.

Yes, there seems to be a way, but it means adding every name one by one. Not very useful if the list is big.
I had hoped there would be a way to select the addresses I want and add them to a list.

dcop? (run kdcop) Edit the config files directly? make a script with a combination of the above? I have no idea how to actually do it.... When you found a way, add it in the wiki....

forgot to mention that I use Templates, a template, for, instead of,a "list or group"

This is not a direct answer to your question, but I remember I once had a similar problem. I didn't find a way to create a distribution list from multiple email addresses in kaddressbook. I solved it this way.
When replying to a mail with several recipients in the header, all the recipients are shown in the editor as if you have added them manually, that is, as usual. And there is a button to create a distribution list from all of the recipients.
I also imported a list of email addresses from a file in mbox format, which contained only the header with the addresses from the recipients. When you open such a file it will be shown the same way in the editor, so that one can apply the same trick with the "save recipients as distribution list" button.
To be recognised as mbox format it seemed to be sufficient to have this format:
From: To: some@address.xy, another@address.xy,
At the end of the second and each subsequent line a comma is required. Each additional line with an additional email address needs to begin with space.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Stefan

Use the selection box right of the To: field. You can do multiselect there. When you have selected your recipients use Tools and "save recipients list" (last option). I roughly translate the labels in English as my system uses different language for the UI, but I hope you get what I mean.

I do! Thanks a lot! But this s really not easyto guess, seems everyone tries with the "edit distribution list".

you mean you try first this "edit distribution list" and wonder how to get the recipients there?
I think KMail needs more developers attention as there are a lot of bugs and wishes and things to sort out, so perhaps you file this one so that it does not get forgotten. From time to time when I'm bored and I have nothing better to do, I look into the code of kmail - but it is huge and complex. There is a bug with connections that makes me restart kontact every day and I want it resolved, but for now I did not find the motivation and the time to do it. I want to see some new features and definitely a better html reader ... but ... but ... priorities and capabilities.
