I'm trying to get Knode to filter out spam entries from the downloads in the comp.lang.tcl newsgroup, but I'm finding the info in the Handbook confusing, and my filters aren't doing anything. My attachments show what I've come up with so far. Does my Spam Filter need to be above All in the list? The handbook doesn't talk about this aspect of the configuration at all. If that's not the problem, what else do I need to look at?

Hi Leslie, I don't use it, but given the screenshots you had attached, I guess the rule should be that the message "contains" the unwanted words to trigger the filter to activate and mark the message as spam. Just speculating here, hope it helps.

Well, that appears to contradict what the Handbook says, but it's fairly confusing. In any case, I tried that, and it had not effect either. :-(

I'm guessing that I'm one of the few remaining (or the only?) users of Knode now. I have to say that its user interface seems much more primitive than any of the other components. Does anyone have a suggestion of another (hopefully more friendly) application for accessing UseNet?

Oh. Well, that was merely my perception, based on what I see as a relatively primitive UI compared to other components. Still can't figure out how the filtering system works. :-(

Hi, I never bothered with filtering - I use it to read news from gmane - the defaults are fine for me.
Don't know what you expect from the UI? I think it is great for what it is.
