This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --d3c16e362965d70a34cc090146ec4e842e873d51e7467f7276b927ca2273 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="us-ascii"
just plugged in a new external drive and wanted, as i do each time i get a new external backup drive, to reformat it ext4. but now sudo gparted brings this:
[kcrash] TDECrash: Application 'gpartedbin-gtk-tqt-application' crashing...
this is similar to a problem i encountered recently with my scanner software. i'm running ubuntu 16.04 with TDE 14.0.5.
anybody know how i can fix this?

Hi Dep,
Go into kcontrol, the GTK Style and Themes under appearance, and play with the settings until it works. The problem is you are using an incompatible theme to "retheme" the the application UI. For gtk2, I use qtcurve. For gtk3, I use default. That's works well for me. However, I can't say this will for you but it's a starting point.
Good luck and cheers,
Kate

Thanks very much but no joy. I've now gone through every one of the available themes for each of them (though I did not try all possible combinations). Same crash for each. Alas.
