I haven't rebooted, but did restart kmail. Nothing unusual in about 9 hours. Feels good, looks good.

Two files seem to be stuck in a forever new loop.

They are included in every "reply" listing even if they were just replaced 1 minute back.

First try apt-get clean.
If you already have in the apt cache files from official apt sources are not the the binary same as packages from the preliminary stable builds (excluding build-deps => deps-r14, which are identical both - source and also binary).
If that fails, try to check the situation through aptitude.
