greetings, one and all . . .
there is a setting someplace that i cannot find, and it is making me crazy. well, crazier. everywhere i can, i have set firefox as my default browser. but kmail won't listen. no matter what i do, when i click on a link in an email message, here comes konqueror, which is a great file manager and a terrible web browser. i very much hope that this behavior is not hardcoded.
have set firefox as the default in the kde system settings through kcontrol (and the other places, such as konqueror configuration, where the same choice appears) and it seems to have taken -- everyplace except kmail, which is where it chiefly matters.
anyone know where i can change this?
thanks.

Under <System Settings> select <Default Applications> and then enter Firefox as your default web browser.

Thanks, but do not know whereabouts of "System Settings"; I have both a KControl and a KMenu>Settings>KDE Components>File Associations configurator, and there I have Firefox as default, but I can find no "System Settings" or "Default Applications."
What am I doing wrong here?

I haven't got that either, dep. It must depend on either the version of Trinity, or even underlying OS. For the record, I am using Trinity 3.13.2 on Debian Wheezy.

No, this behaviour is not hardcoded. I have Iceweasel, my husband Google Chrome, as our default browser in KMail. I love Konqueror and would myself use it from choice, but It has one crucial failing. I cannot ask it to display with no style. :-( I must do a wish-bug some time!

I used KControl -> KDE Components -> File associations.
But it sounds as though that is what you have done, and it has not been successful. So all I can say is to reiterate that Konqueror is not hardcoded. Sorry. :-(

And the files you have associated are .html and what if anything else?
I'm wondering if there's a way of reverse-searching, such that I can readily see what if anything konqueror is associated with, without opening up every file type. I have to be overlooking something and it is almost surely something simple and embarrassing!

Just the variations on html: HTML, htm, HTM, shtml.
xml is associated with Konqueror still.
I remember having trouble with this in the past, but can't now remember what was different.
Sorry not to be more help.
