Can someone give me a clue what this means and how to fix it?
TDE's error messages are VERY unhelpful when trying to fix something. At least tell me where to look to fix whats broke!
Thanks,
Chris

OH THANK YOU! THANK YOU and Leslie.
I couldn't get the cat thing to work, but doing what Leslie said worked!
I thought I was going to have to either create a new user, or nuke and pave and start all over!

It actually means that you are trying to open a file without a program associated with this file (mime) type.
The file types can be configured in the TCC (Trinity Control Center) Under Components >> File Associations (or whatever it is called in English)
In fact many users prefer the rather complex configuration system of TDE, because it gives you a lot of flexibility. It seems there are two basic types of users. The one, that would rather install again (or create a new user) and start up clean. This type finds configuring those details boring. The other type invests time to configure the system and wants to keep it as long as possible (in my case ~20y). I think it is the best advantage to configure once and never touch it again.
Really? I find "Can't find MIME type" to be pretty clear. If you're not sure what a MIME type is then look it up. A search engine could have easily answered this question.

No need to be a Dick head. Not everyone who comes to linux understands things right away.
Chris
If you blame the software for telling you nothing without trying to search it up first, then I don't think it's wrong to tell you that you have tools at your disposal to learn things effectively. If something similar was posted to something like Arch BBS, there would have been a similar response. It's even worse to respond negatively when someone else is trying to be helpful.
See http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
A MIME type is not a Linux only concept. It's standard in multiple operating systemsーWindows included.

I did put the phrase into Google but got nothing:
Maybe it was because of the way I worded it or something? I typed the error out verbatim.
Chris
Oh I see. My apologies if I was passive aggressive then

That is surprising. I just types your error message into Brave (don't know who they rely on for the search and got a bunch of results. Bong find results as well, so does Google.
Maybe you should take a look at your search settings or restrictions.
