Hi List,
I have a problem when i create a directory on my desktop i can't open it. I must choose konqueror to make it.
I would like directory open with konqueror for all users.
I have made some kde-profile. I think i have made some mistakes.
Someone could help me to solve my problem ?

Hi John,
When you create a directory on the desktop you can open it by double clicking on it.
But by default, i don't have a software associated to file://

Have you tried creating desktop entries that call konqueror specifically on the directory (in other words, setting Properties > Application > Command to "konqueror /directory/subdirectory"), rather than setting up an URL or device entry? It's inelegant, but it might work.

When you create a directory on a user's desktop*, it initially has the icon of a "folder". There is no ambiguity for the user and a "standard*** click**" opens it... As this is "basic" operation, I do not understand the point 3 and following, below. Perhaps it would be better not to have taken a directory as exemple...
In the case of the icon of a file (document) on the desktop, it is possible to do context-click and tell the system to use the application to open this document ... The system opens a window whose contents starts with "Open With" ... The result of the action, if you check "remember the association between the application and the file type" is stored. You can modify the concerned association with the "KDE Control Center" (kcontrol: "KDE Components" -> "File Associations"). The description of your example is similar to using this "context-click" ... I guess it is this association that poses a problem for you because you have the "replicate" for each of your 400 users. Did I well understand?
