Hello, it looks like kopete protocols were not compiled at all in this build. I will correct it then you'll get an updated package in the repository.

Probably all of kdepim needs recompiling, that's where Kontact and Kmail reside. Dunno where Knode resides.

Hello, what do you mean by "broken" in kontact, kmail, or knode ? I've just set up an imap account inside kmail and it works well. knode works too with my ISP newsgroup server.
Concerning kopete, it is part of the "kdenetwork" package (I think this is specific to Trinity), and I've managed to compile the protocols BUT the MSN one is not working ... I dunno why. I'll continue to investigate on that problem, since it looks like it works on Debian.

OK I see, the ".la" files are package inside the "-devel" package, whereas they should not. I guess you can solve this problem now by installing "trinity-kdepim-devel" package, I will correct this and rebuild the package ASAP.
Thanks for reporting (alas it is not related to the kopete problem).

OK, so I've finally found out the Kopete protocol issues (especially MSN). Then I've built and uploaded the following new packages for RHEL and Fedora, which solve the discussed issues:
trinity-kdenetwork 3.5.13-4 trinity-kdepim 3.5.13-3
Wait for them to appear on the Trinity Mirrors (~24 hours), then just do a "yum update" to get them.

Are you using IMAP or cached IMAP for Gmail? I'm using cached IMAP without issue.
Another thing to check is if you're using "Show only serverside subscribed folders". Make sure that is set, go to your Folder list and right-click on the top-level folder for your gmail (probably whatever you entered as the "Account Name" in Kmail), select "Serverside subscription..." and make sure the folders you want in Kmail are checked off. Once you're done with that, synchronize it and see if it works right.
If not, we need to know what the error is.
POP isn't for sending mail. It's a different protocol for retrieving mail. Use SMTP for sending.

You mean neither IMAP nor POP work, or just the POP?
I'm using IMAP with my Gmail (plus several other accounts) with no issues. SMTP works fine too. I don't use Fedora, but if IMAP and SMTP don't work for you, then it's probably an issue with Fedora packages.
If your problem is POP only, I can't confirm this since I don't have my Gmail or any other email configured for POP.

I don't know if regular IMAP will work with Kmail and Gmail, I haven't tried it.
If Gmail doesn't work with Kmail using Cached IMAP, then the problem is with the Fedora packages. Gmail works fine with Cached IMAP on Debian, and regular IMAP works with my other email accounts.
Since I don't work with Fedora, I won't be able to help out any further other than to suggest waiting for Francois to respond.

Now I configured gmail with disconnected imap it works, but I got error from reading 1 folder on gmail, but kmail is still buggy I can't send any mail with smtp on my 3 accounts, so I will use thunderbird instead.
Hello, I've just tested successfully the following mail accounts on Kmail / Fedora 16:
- My ISP pop3 server: OK - Microsoft Live (hotmail) POP3S server: OK - A local IMAP server: OK - The same local server with IMAPS (SSL): OK - The same local server with IMAPS (TLS): OK - My gmail account with IMAPS (SSL): OK
I did not try SMTPS (SSL) because i do not have a server to test. I did not try "disconnected IMAP", but I guess it is basically the same as normal IMAP.
The only bug (misconfiguration ?) I've seen so far is that it always ask if I want to hide warnings about invalid (self-signed) server certificate when using SSL on my local server, I say "never ask again', but the popup comes back everytime.
Please note that I do not have any complex configuration on my mailboxes (few subfolders, few messages ...), maybe kmail is more unstable with heavily loaded mailboxes.
If you have spare time to waste, you can try the same Kmail configuration with the Squeeze LiveCD to see if the same problems occur.

J have 3 accounts gmail with imap, netscape with imap (it works) and pop with that account I write now it don't work with kmail
POP don't work at all, my aol imap works and gmail imap don't work I will try change config with gmail

Ah yes, I forgot about that: Might not be setup with Gmail's correct SSL settings. Thunderbird tries to detect that automatically. Kmail can 'normally' detect it when you tell it to, but only if the correct server and port are already entered.

I just tried. It detected the SMTP settings, but not IMAP. If you want to try one more time, here are the settings that are working for me:
Disconnected IMAP Login: Your full email address (youremail@gmail.com or youremail@googlemail.com) Password: Your password Host: imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Optional settings: Store IMAP Password, Show only serverside subscription, Include in manual checking, Enable interval checking Security: Use SSL, Clear text
SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com Port: 587 Server requires authentication Login: your email address from your IMAP settings Password: Your password Optional: Store password Encryption: TLS, Plain
