Hello. I've got a laptop I'm running OpenSuSe 11.3 with KDE4 on. In addition, I've installed the KDE3 version of KDEPIM on it. But not the KDE3 desktop.
My problem is that if I have both Firefox and Kompozer (a website editor) installed, every time I click on a web link in an email, it starts up Kompozer INSTEAD of Firefox.
I can't find any way to prioritize Firefox, except to uninstall Kompozer. Can anyone tell me where to look to make clicking on a url go to Firefox and not Kompozer. The KDEPIM is from 3.5.10.
Thanks

AFAIK this should be a configuration option in KDE's settings.
Best regards, Tiago
Thanks

Yes it should, but setting the application preference to Firefox in System Settings/default appications/web browser has no effect on this behaviour in KDEPIM 3.5.10.
It does for other programs.
Can you try something like:
xdg-open http://www.google.com
Best regards, Tiago

When I do that, Firefox opens at google. I guess the next question is how I get KDEPIM 3.5.10 to do that when I click on a link.

Please. That's the first thing I tried. My default web browser IS set to Firefox. Does not help.
I suspect it's because I'm using KDE4 as my desktop, but using a KDE3 program, KDEPIM 3.5.10 as my mail/news program.

OK, I didn't mean to offend. :-)
KDE4 causes all kinds of problems with TDE. There may not be a solution to your problem.

None taken :-))

OK. TDE is what?
I've got another spare laptop, so I've installed KDE3 on it, not just KDEPIM under KDE4, and I'll see if that works properly.
