Did you check the last (standard utils box) and optionally (your choice) check the penultimate (ssh) box and leave all the other boxes unchecked? You especially do not want the first box (Desktop) checked if you're not installing a Desktop using this installer. gnome desktop was unchecked Is this where it "refused to proceed", if not where? What error did it give when it "refused to proceed"?
