Hello, Sorry, me again. On my computer number 1, with Konqueror, at the right on the top, url/task bar, I have a field to seek a file, or a part of a file, it's very practical, if we have many files. Please, see the attached image "konqueror2.png".
On my computer number 2, I don't have this field on the right, only the url/task bar. So I cannot seek a file. Please, see the attached image "konqueror1.png".
Why on the same system Debian upgraded on two computers, Konqueror does not display the same configuration ?
Thanks, cheers. André

Thanks, but, I don't see the mention : "search action from the right to the left".
I entered in the horizontal menu, Tools, no information about to (add) the search field. Cheers, André

Right-click on one of the buttons beside the address bar. You should get a popup menu "Toolbar Menu". Select the bottom item ("Configure toolbars"). You'll get a popup window with some stuff at the top indicating which toolbar you're configuring, a list of things you can put on the toolbar on the left, a list of things currently on the toolbar on the right, and arrow buttons to move things between them. You probably want the "Find Files" item, so move that one from the left to the right.
Adjust as necessary for non-English localizations.

Thanks for your help. I saw this window : "you can put on the toolbar on the left, a list of things currently on the toolbar on the right, and arrow buttons". No "Find Files" item or something similar... It's strange that I have this Konqueror field on one computer and not on another. Cheers. André

I installed TDE in a virtual machine and indeed the search bar is not there by default. The assumption it can be added as an "action" was also wrong.
Installing the package konq-plugins-trinity is the correct solution.

Hello, Despite the help of William and Mr. Deloptes (thanks), I'm giving up; it's a failure for me. I don't blame them at all :-)
What's very surprising is that out of three almost identical upgraded systems, including TDE-Trinity, one has Konqueror with an additional search field in the URL task bar, and the other two system, DON'T !
Cheers, Andre

See attached image.
The FIND FILE option should be found on the left pane (Available Options).
Click the Find File option. The 4 arrows in the middle should become activated. Then press the Right Arrow button to move that option to the right pane (Current Options).
Then press ok.

No, that's not the problem.
I don't have André's problem - I have the search field in all my Konquerors. But I can't find any place to add/remove it, all the suggestions made here add or remove some other icon.
My conclusion is that this search field (at the right of the URL field, in the Location Toolbar) is not configured in the "Configure Toolbar" menu, but somwhere else. I did not find a way to make it disappear.
My guess is that it should be hadcoded in some config file, but which? And why is it missing in some of André's installl? I have not checked all my TDE systems, but I don't remember having seen it gone.

In the location toolbar, at the left there is "GO", what means in french ?
It's better now, how to register this configuration of the attached image ? Because when I close Konqueror, and start it, I have to configure again to obtain the image configuration. Cheers. Andre

When I launch Konqueror in root, it works correctly (as the attached image), It's also still a mystery... and by this method on the desktop : "create a new link as URL". Cheers.

In your user account, when you start Konqueror, check if you have the serarch bar available. (as I mentioned before this is installed with konq-plugins package)

The inatructions given above by E. Liddell work for me, too. I can right-click on any button in the location bar, and I get a Toolbar Menu.

Last in the list under the header is Configure Toolbars. When I open that, I get a double-panel window of choices. Near the top is a header that says "Toolbar:" (with colon at the end of word), and underneath it is another menu, for which I see only "Location Toolbar <Konqueror>"; please note the tiny downwards-pointing arrow at right side of this menu.
Click on that arrow, and you get a list of choices. For some reason, I cannot show you this last menu in full using ksnapshot. (I did use the delay timer this time!) But I clicked on the "Search Toolbar <searchbar>" choice, and took a snapshot of that.
See attachment.

Hello, Ok, I saw your image. I send you my image attached "Toolbar". The menu has not some items as you have. Cheers, André

Did you try clicking on the small arrow to the right? where it reads Barre d'URL <Konqueror>?
There ought to be a menu that opens up under that, when you click the arrow at right.
Mine looks the same, in English, until I click that arrow at right. That's where you find that menu ... if it exists.

Yes, as you see in the image of my previous shipment.

No menu opens with "Barre d'URL" and I click the arrow at right. Just the informations on the right.

Well, there are yet other ways to skin this cat, but this may require a bit of hacking on your machine. Nothing too weird or risky, I think, but all the same, if you try this trick: back up these files before changing them.
You ought to examine the lines in this file /home/<user>/.trinity/share/config/konquerorrc It's a text file, can be opened and edited with any text editor.
Now, here comes the hack. There may be some here who would warn you against trying this, but these are the same people who tell you not to run with scissors, and not to direct the laser pointer into your good eye. They want to take away all your joy in life, to keep you from having fun. Don't listen to them. All the same, you want to make backups of the files in question.
You said that konqueror works for you on your "other machine" but not on this one. After you make a backup of the konquerorrc file for your target machine (the machine where konqueror is not configured as you want), then:
Copy the "good" konquerorrc from your source machine (the one where konqueror works right) to your target machine.
Assuming that your user name is the same on both machines, then your paths ought to be the same. If this is not true, then it may not work. (This is why you make the backups.) In that case, you will want to compare the two konqueorrc files, to find which lines are different. The hacking trick is, of course, a lot faster.
If the issue is not solved in the lines of those konquerorrc files, then somebody else may be able to help you dig deeper, because it probably isn't something in your user settings.
Bill
P.S., The only time I see the word *barre* in English is in music books, concerning barre chords. And it's funny, but most younger players nowadays will invariably write it as "bar chords" and don't know any other way ... to the point that references to barre chords are disappearing altogether.
