I found that it's possible to install Network Manager from Squeeze, but
I don't recommend it as it may cause some dependency problems. In my
case, this dependency hell went up to GTK, making Zenity, Audacious
etc. unusable, so I had to reinstall and find something other.
I've found that Wicd, which I'm using for wired/home Wi-fi, doesn't
work with my university network (Eduroam), so I have Wicd for normal,
wireless connectivity and a script which starts WPA supplicant for
university network.
I've read in mail header that You're from University, if You have
Eduroam (it's an universal site in many universities), have You found
any method of authenticating it in Wicd?

Thank you for responses. I am using wicd at the moment
and it seems
to work.
1) Hold the network-manager-kde-trinity and
network-manager from
Squeeze
I wouldn't mind that. The question is if I can go back to old
network-manager once I upgraded to the new one?
2) Use a different application - for example
nm-applet
I would love to use nm-applet, but for some reason the icon does not
show properly in the taskbar - see the attached screenshot (which I
hope will make it to the list). Should I report this as a trinity bug?
