I can't find the kmail indexes neither in share/apps/kmail nor in the data dir
I confed.
KMail itself works, but where is the index?
Got a nasty mail stuck in main dir.

I wish that I had your problem! It pales into insignificance compared with
mine. :-(
cd to your mail directory (where all the emails etc. are stored)
and do
ls -al
et voilà! There are your indices.
