Since the upgrade to Debian 11 and TDE 14.0.11-pre, if I try to print something using either the Vivaldi (using stable or snapshot) or Chromium browsers, it prints to the HP printer in grayscale. Only Firefox and Thunderbird will correctly print in color.
The printer is connected to the PC via Ethernet, this is the only way Chromium and Vivaldi will see the printer, but in the TDE Control Center, the printer is listed twice, once with the local IP address and one without. The entry with the IP address was added using HPLIP. If I remove both entries and use TDE to connect the printer via USB, the Vivaldi and Chromium browsers do not see the printer, the only print option is to Save to PDF. Firefox and Thunderbird still see them fine. HPLIP will not otherwise install the printer via USB (something called avahi-browser is missing). However, it appears TDE is automatically installing the printer regardless of the connection, without any user intervention.
Is this grayscale issue, a known issue??
Thanks.

More info: The TDE Control Center keeps adding the printer back to the system once it's been removed via the TCC - after the printer is physically disconnected from the PC. This shouldn't be happening.

And if I delete the printer using the CUPS admin interface - still with the printer physically disconnected, it reappears again.
After rebooting the PC with the printer disconnected, the entries were gone. Upon reconnecting the printer via Ethernet, TDE somehow detected it and recreated the entry in the TCC, but the entry didn't work with a test page. Adding the printer back via Ethernet using HPLIP, recreated the printer entry with the IP address and a test page worked.
At this point, Vivaldi and Chromium will only print in color, if I select the system dialog to print, choosing the printer with the IP address, as there are now three entries listed for this one printer. If I use their native printing options, they continue to print in grayscale.
Are you sure Vivaldi uses TDE's printer? I run Vivaldi, but when I print from it I don't get Trinity's printer dialog. I guess it uses it's own or some Gnome dialog.
I usually print to pdf first, then I can use kpdf

Hi Thierry,
I have since learned that the current version if HPLIP is incompatible with Debian 11, but there are new packages pending in the pipeline.
What has been occurring, is really strange. The current version of HPLIP will connect the printer to the PC but only via Ethernet. Once this occurs, it is the only printer that Vivaldi and Chromium can see, aside from 'Print to PDF'. If I use the native print option in these browsers, the pages print in grayscale. If I select to use the system printing dialog (which is what Firefox and Thunderbird use), they will then print in color.
There is a second entry for the printer in the TDE Control Panel, created by TDE, apparently automatically installed, consisting of the printer model with alphanumeric characters next to it, referencing that it's driverless, using cups-filters 1.28,7. This entry is created whether the printer is connected via USB or Ethernet. If I delete it, it reappears automatically. If the printer entry with the Ethernet connection is removed, leaving only this driverless entry, Vivaldi and Chromium do not see it. 'Print to PDF' is the only option with those browsers.

I'll have to look my Devuan (chimaera beta) install to see if I have problems. However, I don't use HPLIP as all my printers are Postscrypt, so maybe that's why everything seemed to work as expected.
Probably this sort of adventure is why many suggest to stay with Buster (I actually still use several Stretch systems...) until all early problems are ironed out :)
