Hi I have very strange problem with TDM. I have USB that I use in HP ElitePro. When I created this and boot into it, all worked fine. After some time I found docking station and it also worked fine. Then after 1-2 months in which also kernel was updated I tried to start without docking station and tdm process is running but I do not have any screen to login. With the docking station it is starting properly (I mean I see TDM login screen on both displays)
This makes me scratch my head. Has someone any idea where to look?
I use TDE 14.1 and below is filtered tdm.log
thanks in advance

Look at your /var/log/Xorg.0.log - due to this line:
xf86EnableIOPorts: failed to set IOPL for I/O (Operation not permitted)
I suspect your X11 is not starting propperly - and tdm wont do it's job then.

yes X says it is successfully shut down, but not saying why and honestly I do not understand.
BTW I did create xorg.conf not explicitly for two displays, but because the one on the notebook was rendering falsely and there was a fix. Now the thing is that even when I remove the xorg.file and reboot it still does not work.
I think I will try what suggested Michele ... but can do it in two weeks as I left the docking station 800km away from home.
if you have any idea where to look ... might be something cached somewhere or written in the initrd or the systemd (oops).
It is very strange for sure

I managed to fix it. It seems it was related to settings in the administration mode in tderandrtray (enable local display control for this session and automatically apply profile on startup)
So as soon as I had the docking station again and could login into TDE, I went into tderadrtray and into the administration mode and disabled those two settings. Now TDM starts also when the docking station and the external display are not connected.

Hi Emanoil, Try connect the docking station, remove the config for multiple screens and leave only the internal one. Then remove from docking and see if it works. If it does, there is likely a bug somewhere which will need to be looked at :-) Cheers Michele
