I seem to be having problems updating my sources.list, so I am wondering if it's just me, or is everybody else having problems, too. I checked the TDE page for repositories, but they're still the same as what I have.
Just to complicate matters even more for myself, we have been having big problems with our internet here, due to flooding and damage. For the past two weeks, it has been hard even to send and receive emails.
However, last night and this morning, things seem back almost to normal. Today I am listening to online radio while downloading some television news programs, doing other work online. But now my Trinity repositories seem rather uncertain or unstable.
Here's the error message I get: W: GPG error: http://tde-mirror.yosemite.net/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.1.x daedalus Release: The following signatures were invalid: BADSIG C93AF1698685AD8B Trinity Desktop Environment Archive Signing Key E: The repository 'http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.1.x daedalus Release' is not signed. N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default. N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.
So I tried downloading the new keyring deb package, but I get an error for that, as well: wget -c -t --show-progress --retry-connrefused --no-check-certificate https://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-keyring.deb --2024-01-26 09:27:35-- https://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-keyring.deb Resolving mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org (mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org)... 37.205.10.16 Connecting to mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org (mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org)| 37.205.10.16|:443... connected. I am the one who terminated the connection, because it just hangs for ever with nothing happening.
Help, anybody?

What does your line for TDE look like? I have
deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity-testing excalibur main deps extra
.. it works perfectly fine.

Greetings, Nik!
Currently I have this: deb http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.1.x daedalus main deps deb-src http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/deb/trinity-r14.1.x daedalus main deps I see that you have deps and extra, as well. In general, I don't use anything non-free or contrib, and everything works just fine. If I really really want something proprietary (non-free) or of dubious provenance (contrib), then I add them for a one-time exception, then change my sources.list back.
What do the extra and deps provide you that main doesn't? I've never had a problem find dependencies for anything, but I might like trying extras, if there's something of interest there. I am a glutton for experimentation, at least sometimes.

"extras" is currently empty, "deps" has "pinentry-tqt" (and other stuff I don't need)

Okay, seems to be working again now. I have managed to download the trinity keyring, but it seems to be the same as I already have, which appears not to have been changed for quite a while (looking at version numbers from previous downloads). Maybe others know more about this than I; thus I will go only blindly assuming that we are still secure.
By the way, sorry for top posting in my replies just now. I got out of the habit of TDE mailing list protocol, due to some more prolonged living out there in the so-called real world and having to exchange emails with non-geeks.
Scary place out there. It's relatively sane here.

That exact command works fine for me so I think you still have an Internet problem of some kind.
If you know how to monitor the download with wireshark or tshark that's what I would try next. You might have something weird like an MTU problem.

Hi Mike!
Yeah, that's a good idea. I played round with them a little, but I really ought to keep a closer eye on my traffic.
There's always something more to do.
