Thanks Nikolaus. It works, the message has disappeared. What means "XXX" ?
I come back to my problem since a long time. When I open a *.php file on my local computer from a remote computer to Linux, I can modify it directly from the remote computer. But, for a *.txt file, I cannot modify it directly from the remote computer. I must befoire download and modifiy it and then, upload it to the remote computer. Any help should be nice for me. Cheers, André

This problem is resolved, by searching in menu : "Trinity configuration center", TDE components => files association, => pattern files : txt and then, many tests on txt files extension in the sections : all, application... At a moment I win, finally, it works ! (since how many months I was searching). Cheers. André

Interesting, I didn't get the beginning of this thread. I only got this "RE:" email that I am replying to.

And what did you have to change?

Sorry, difficult to explain, I had to proceed by trial, groping.
TDE components => => pattern files = empty, you have a "txt" section with many applications, you don't change anything. If you fill the pattern file by "txt" you obtain a "txt" pattern too, under the pattern "application", but with only one mention : "text/plain".
After, you can modify a text file directly on a remote server from you computer with kedit. A webmaster save much time to modify many remote files on a remote Web server in a data center.
Hope it helps. André

Ok, that might be interesing as a bugreport, maybe "somebody" could make the necessary changes.

The developers appreciate hugely to modify directly on a remote computer, not only .txt files but many others, all whose sources files for writing programs as text : .php , .js , python , .C , Ruby , Free-Office , and so many... Download and upload, it wastes too much time.

In Control Center => TDE Components => File Associations, click on Add... at the bottom, select Group:application, Type name: octet-stream, click OK, click Apply.
