greetings, good people . . .
back on the glory days of OS/2 -- yes, i'm *that* old -- i had a wonderful utility that allowed the user to create his own mouse pointers. after fiddling with it for awhile, i came up with a scheme that was the reverse of whatever it was over. you have no idea how useful and precise this proved to be. by "reverse" i mean over black it would be white, and so on. it was transparent, so over text the text, reversed, would show through.
i looked for but never found anything that worked similarly in linux. alas, i'm reaching that point where a mouse pointer, i-beam, etc., big enough to see is too big to use with anything like precision. (i told you i'm old!)
so i am wondering if among the genuinely sharp minds here anyone can imagine a recipe for turning an existing mouse pointer theme into something like the setup i had in OS/2. this would involve finding the actual theme images -- i'm not sure either as to the format or where they live -- and editing them by replacing the colors with . . . what? if anybody has and sense of this and passes it along, if i can make it happen i'd happily offer the result for inclusion in future releases (or as an add-on now, if anyone wants it).
ideas?
