I use only apt-get (apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade) Nik is absolutely right, any major upgrade in X is asking for trouble, maybe that should be clarified in any official TDE upgrade instructions. It's probably best to do just the squeeze updates first and reboot, there could be a new kernel, new xorg... proprietary graphics drivers might need reinstalling before X will run Regards, David
