Hi Guys,
I am using PCLinuxOS from the image that Alexandre Couture created and
have discovered an odd printing behaviour.
If I click on print from any PDF or Image it prints OK first time. If I
then try to print a second copy or close the application and try to
print something else the print dialogue comes up frozen. If I click on
exit a few times it will tell me that "Kprint" is not responding and
give me the opertunity to terminate it.
After this I cannot print anything at all without restarting the
machine. However when I get back to the desktop, I get the message
that there is no default printer and to use the "--all" switch. ??
Clearing the error message allows me to continue as normal. Untill I
print something.
I have tried the various dialogues but seem unable to find or access my
printer.
Don't laugh, I'm still using my HP Deskjet 500 MK1 from over thirty
years ago. I long as I can keep refilling the cartridge with ink it
will continue to be in use !

This will not help you but I can confirm, that printing on an HP Deskjet 500
with the repository of Slávek (3.5.13.2) works fine under Ubuntu.

I've tried that ! Under printers there is my DJ500 listed along
with "Ksendfax, Mail PDF file, Print to File (PDF), Print to file
(postscript) and Send to Fax" Both the print to work just fine.
Under the "Instances" tab it just shows (Default).
However if I print a PDF or an Image and look here everything just locks
up.
Fine about Kprint that probably explains why I can print Ok from Libre
Office.
For the next release of my livecd, I will try to
remember to not
install Kprint (if it is possible), because it shouldn't be there...
PCLinuxOS already comes with its own utilities.

Thankyou ! I have several friends who now run your unofficial PCLOS TDE
remaster with very few issues. I only have one user that can't print
anything, but he has a HP win printer. :-)

Yes, winprinter (such as those Lexmarks
of a few years ago: 30$ for the printer, 60$ to the ink...) are always problematic...

I'm glad you liked my remaster!
For the next release, it will feature a Zenity script to guide the user to switch between
the more modern theming I use and the TDE classic appearance, for those who prefer it!
Also, it will be available as one download, not a multi-part zip archive as it was. There
is also some other things I want to include!
