Hey there,
just completed a fresh installation of Debian via netinstall with no other DE and added Trinity following the instructions on the wiki.
Everything works - thank you for your efforts! - but I can't seem to start TDM.
I have the package tdm-trinity installed, and using the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure tdm-trinity, I can select it. Just to double check, the outcome of cat /etc/X11/default-display-manager is /opt/trinity/bin/tdm, so it's definitely there. Yet, when I power on the laptop, I am greeted by no DM at all.
I have installed lightdm to see if that would give problems as well, but it works just fine, so I'm not sure what the problem with TDM could be.
Any help would be much appreciated, thank you folks! :D

Try with disabled SCard auth — https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tdebase/issues/397#issuecomm...
Just load your system from a LiveDisk from there — http://oscada.org/wiki/Sub-projects/Automation_Linux_distributive
May also install TDM from that repository, if you want.

Hi Paperella,
Welcome to TDE!
To help you diagnose why something isn't starting we would need to know which init system you are using. Are you using systemd or SysVinit or OpenRC or ... ? (The default for recent releases of Debian is systemd but all my Debian systems use SysVinit.)

Thanks both for your replies.
I'm using stock Debian 12.7, so with systemd.
I won't have access to my laptop until tomorrow, I might try the LiveDisk mentioned by Roman.
Are the ISOs from the website you linked just a plain Debian installation + TDE?

Mostly "plain" with my TDE patches and my project's packages, for which the LiveDisks are created initially as a result of the sub-project "Automation Linux distributive of the project OpenSCADA".
Hi there!
I have seen this many times before when setting up TDE on Debian, now before I jump to conclusions ( even though I think I know what it is already...), could you upload your X server logs?
Also what happens if you run "sudo systemctl restart tdm"?
