Greetings,
I find that my curser jumps all over the place periodically whilst typing in Kmail. It used to happen whilst I used the Kmail, in various distros using KDE4, and seems to be present when I use Trinity with Ubuntu 12.04.
Has anyone else experienced this and is there a remedy?
TIA
David

actually, it's the cursor -- the curser is what *you* become when it happens!
i've encountered this also, on several versions and in several distributions. in my case, it is the result of switching between a serial pointing device, where it was never a problem, to a USB one, where it sometimes is. i've not found it to be application-dependent, though.

I have never seen this. Are you sure there isn't a problem with Xorg and/or your mouse?

Thanks Tim,
The MS optical mouse until now has been connected via an USB hub. I have disconnected the hub and trying a MS wireless mouse instead.
Whilst typing this the cursor has jumped twice. Firstly back into the paragraph above and then later down into the signature block.
This only happens in Kmail. LibreOffice, Claws Mail and Kate don't seem to have this problem.
Apart from this the installation is solid as a rock.
