Felix, have you changed your email password since these spams have been showing up on the list showing you as the sender (last 6-8 months or so)? They originate from an Earthlink IP, but a different one than your real emails. So, I could be wrong, but my guess is your password was compromised and your account is being used to send spams from an Earthlink server, but not from your system. That theory would be falsified if (a) you have changed your password in that timeframe, or (b) you change it now, and they continue.
All that to say, would you mind changing the password on your email account, to see if it stops the spams?

You know in the Matrix, when agent Smith took off his ear plug :) I bet Felix has no idea :) It could be he is running SMTP on public IP as well and SMTP is not configured properly

I don't know what triggered whatever this is about. The deloptes post I'm replying to doesn't link to any email I received since yesterday. Trash got compacted and out last night. The only place I use SMTP is in SeaMonkey. I have no idea anything to do with the movie Matrix or any of its sequels, since I've never watched any of them, besides having avoided all of Keanu Reeves' movies since seeing the original Bill & Ted.
I did have trouble with this mailing list a long time ago that I was not able to resolve with Tim until I borrowed someone's gmail account to use to communicate with Tim.
I'm often thinking there is a feud going on between Earthlink and Yahoo that makes each other's email black hole. Currently my trash has 124 items in it, of which none include yahoo.com in visible headers.
I'm subscriber to too many email lists to keep track of. Days I get less than 100 emails are uncommon. 300 isn't unusual. Thus NAICT, Earthlink email does what I need done.

It's about the occasional spam that shows up on the list with your address as the sender. Deloptes quoted my post in full, which you quoted above.

For what it's worth, I used to use Earthlink email myself, and was loath to get rid of it because I had used the same email for ten years, creature of habit that I am. However, I also got hit with terrible spam, although I don't think (or at least I hope) that my address wasn't hijacked for somebody else's spam.
I don't know what's going on with your email, and I am not telling you what to do; but when I changed my email address to Gmail, I got ads and sometimes a hassle about logging in from different locations. Then I changed to Zoho, and so far only a few glitches, which their support has helped me to resolve. *fingers crossed*
Anyway, there must be some better email service out there.
If this is any help ...
Bill
Hey Felix,
Here's the original spam, with full headers (snipping my info) they're talking about. Hopefully it helps.
Best, Michael
