Hi
I just reinstalled Kubuntu 14.04.
- Connected to a wifi, the wallet was called
- installed trinity (via the nightly builds)
- rebooted and started trinity
- when I tried to connect to the wifi I just configured with KDE4 I see can't connection attempt failed, secrects were required. So I tried to re-configure it that is I deleted the configuration and added a new one with the same parameters, did not help
I am puzzled.

- my disk is empty.
- I install Kubuntu[1] 14.04 which ships KDE4
- I need an internet connection to download and install trinity.
- I add the relevant source.list file entries and install
- I try to use the tdenetworkmanager and run into the problem reported.
In the past I always used this path successfully, just now it seems to fail. I could use wicd as an alternatative, but I am really puzzled by this behaviour.
Footnotes: [1] two reasons not to try trinity live, first in the past I had difficulties with trinty live, second KDE4 ships some useful stuff, for example configuring the printer turned out easier in KDE4 than in trinty.

I mostly described what I do not clearly enough.

My 2cent suggestion is to use only one configuration tool for wifi. If you prefer the kde4 one, once correctly installed and setup it should work even in TDE. If you want to use TDE network manager, I recommend to disable/remove the KDE4 one. Personally I use Wicd since a long time ago (when the time I moved away from KDE4 and before I discovered TDE quite some time later on) and have no problems with it. Obviously I do not run TDE network manager together. If you try to run 2 network managers at the same time I would not be surprised if you run into problems.
Cheers Michele

Hm, but I reboot my machine and just login with trinity I thought the KDE4 network manager should not matter, it should not run, or are you saying it is anyhow.
Hm, I had this szenario for the ever since trinity came out.
I just downloaded and installed trinity live, so far it behaves as expected, no conflict, I keep my finger crossed.

You said/wrote, you had KDE4 NM configure your wifi.

The live version does not have KDE4, so as Michele pointed out, perhaps you should consider removing the KDE4 part

KDE NM may be running, it depends on how your machine was setup. For example it may be started automatically.
Are you planning to use only TDE or you want to use also KDE4? In the first case, just install a bare ubuntu without any desktop environment (I assume this is possible, as it is for Debian), then install TDE on top of that. This will prevent any KDE stuff to get in the way. In the second case, just make sure you are using only one NM ;-)
