Hi all!
I've found solution how to switch layouts with Ctrl+Shift. To be honest, it was sad to found that old "feature", requiring something more than click three checkboxes in the "Xkb Options" still exists. Why can't I set Ctrl+Shift in the TDE Control Center as a shortcut? (Ctrl+Shift shortcut is interpreted as Ctrl + ISO_Next_Group) Why it is necessary to edit config files? I hope someday this behaviour will be fixed.
Best wishes, J. Drahun.

One man's meat is another man's poison. If they "fix" it someone who likes the present behaviour will be inconvenienced or annoyed.

I wonder how this behaviour can be liked, to be honest. I didn't meet any page where this behaviour was liked when I searched for solution.

People who complain about it are thsoe who don't like it!!
If you *really* want something annoying, Ubuntu-MATE (and I _think_ all Ubuntu) has a default of going into lock-down if you leave your desk. And it is really difficult and fiddly to turn off. Turning off the screensaver doesn't work to stop it.
I can see it is great in an office, but it is a real pain for a home user. If the postman calls you have to input your password before you are allowed to continue watching the television programme your were watching!!!

What exactly?
We've seen you had already problems with your installation. What exactly is not working now?
Just configure the layout and leave external xkb disabled in the config tab.
Then pressing Left CTRL+ALT+"k" should work. When using cyrillic changing back does not work. I remap therefore the keyboard switching shortcut to Left CTRL+AL+Right - works perfect in any language/layout.
regards

I have already solved my problem. Everything does work now. As appears, this problem is known at least for 10 years.
Just configure the layout and leave external xkb disabled in the config tab.
I don't understand why there is such option "Keys to change layout(s)" in "Xkb options" if it has nothing with actual layout switching in TDE then.
Then pressing Left CTRL+ALT+"k" should work. When using cyrillic changing back does not work. I remap therefore the keyboard switching shortcut to Left CTRL+AL+Right - works perfect in any language/layout.
I wanted to switch layouts with CTRL+Shift. I didn't want to use three keys to switch layouts. The only solution was manually edit ~/.trinity/share/config/kdeglobals and change the line 'Switch to Next Keyboard Layout=Ctrl+Shift_L; Ctrl+Shift_R'. Why it can't be performed with Trinity Control Center (it reads Ctrl+Shift as Ctrl + ISO_Prev_Group or Ctrl + ISO_Next_Group), it's secret to me.
I hope someday this behaviour will be fixed.
What exactly?
I'd really wish to be "Keys to change layouts" settings be unified.
Best wishes, J. Drahun.

OK, clear now, as E.Liddel advised, please raise a bug, otherwise it won't be ever changed/fixed.

His complaint is that selecting CTRL + SHIFT as the switching key combination in the Control Center does not, in fact, set it to CTRL + SHIFT. That's a bug-- a minor one with a known workaround, but still a bug. J. Drahun, could you please file it with the Trinity Bugzilla, to improve the chances of it being fixed?
