Just for jollies I set up an IRC channel on chat.freenode.net named #trinitykde3 for general use / user support of users / whatever.
It's there :-).

I had tried to register an official channel some time ago with FreeNode but never received a response. Is this an unofficial channel?
Thanks!

#trinity is still there - it's still alive too the topic is still set :P
I was the one that setup trinity but Tim said they had one already. So I'm a little confused, is there an official channel or not. I made an effort to create and register a channel in an effort to help, I've made several offers to help. For example offering 5 years worth of research data, only to be constantly shot down. So it all begs the question, is this a boys club?

Where did I say that?

There is no official IRC channel at this time; I never was able to register one with FreeNode.

??? The last message I remember on this topic was where you had given valuable input on the default settings; did I miss something?
So it all begs the
question, is this a boys club?
No!

#trinity is taken by an A.I. project, and #trinitykde3 uses the KDE trademark in its name. How about #trinity-desktop ? That is the one I tried to register long ago.
If you want to try to register it, please go ahead. The only thing I would ask is that I also receive channel operator permissions.
Thanks!
Tim
Hello Tim,
Registering a channel on Freenode is too easy is the problem :-).
What I put together is in no way official.
If you wish I can certainly drop #trinitykde3 and set up whatever you wish.
Also no problem in turning over the channel, I only put it together so folks would have a place to chat.
To set up a channel: [deleted all that :) ]
:-) never mind, I see someone already did it, #trinitykde3 has been dropped.
Thanks VERY much for your efforts!
Take care, Chris

Hi Chris,
My IRC ignorance is shining through! ;-) I had tried to register as a Freenode partner organization earlier with no success; I was unaware of the /register command in the channel itself until very recently.
The official IRC information has been added to the main Trinity page.
Thanks for your patience and assistance!

Hello Katheryne, I for one am open to any of your suggestions, I can't do IRC as I have a keyboarding disability, but if you can post to the mailing list that would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Trinity on Squeeze and Ubuntu's 10.04 and 10.10, 10.04 is working great, Squeeze needs some help as sudo is configured for Ubuntu and should be configured for Debian, also kdesudo seems to be broken and is not installable and gksu is not asking for a passwd it will just open synaptic without a passwd.
Thanks,
pam and ksudo work perfectly together. I'm currently using it on Ark Linux with KDE 3.5.10. PAM allows for a single admin user, without the need to be root.
As for ksudo not working, perhaps having multiple tools to assess root prevs, isn't a good idea, they may be interfearing with eachother.
What is the feedback when you use ksudo?
Kate
