Greetings all;
One small item about kmail has bugged me for many years, and its time I fussed about it.
The "it" I refer to is that when kmail rebuilds an index, it wipes out your carefully set message marks like "important" or "action item", losing those flags you set so it was easily findable later.
The addition of the ability to save those, and search for them later by a better method than visually scanning the message list looking for those marks, would be the most usefull addition to kmails abilities I can imagine.
Thank you.
Cheers, Gene Heskett

My KMail* doesn't lose those when it rebuilds the index. Granted my KMail usually crashes when I try to search, so there may be some other bug hiding this bug in my case? What's everyone else's experience?

Same version on R14.1 with maildir. I lose index+flags when syncing the whole mail folder via unison. I sometimes lose the index when I sync via unison and exclude all index files, but I lose all flags and naturally all "new" files get the unread flag, so I have to go over each folder and remove the new-flag (thankfully there's a menu option for each folder).

I'm using individual mail files, so my guess is that these "marks" are in the form of an appendage to the filename, so I guess you call it maildir?
Thanks Nik.

Yes. I posted ta description on the filenaming convention earlier this year on this list - should be somewhere in the archive :)

Thanks Nik.

I also have searches crashes fairly often lately. didn't use to.

Same here. But atm on stretch, s/b bullseye before I hit 87 in a couple weeks if everything else works. I have, unformatted, the makings of a 4GB software raid 6 or 10 already installed.
