Okay, how do I join/participate?

We have meetings on Freenode IRC. You can use webchat.freenode.net or your own IRC client to connect. The channel we have meetings in is #trinity-desktop-meeting.

Okay. Thanks. Now drop your jaw, roll your eyes, exhale at either end....
How do I do that? I never used IRC.
Sheltered life? :)

No, it's ok, I didn't drop my jaw or roll my eyes, or exhale :P
IRC is basically a chatroom network. So when you get to webchat.freenode.net, you'll be greeted and asked for a nickname and a channel. Choose a nickname that we can identify you with :) The channel should be #trinity-desktop-meeting, with the # included.
Enter in the captcha, hit connect, and type away! :)
PS: The main chatroom is #trinity-desktop

First time for everything...
I'm looking at the K-Menu and see KSirc IRC Client.
I start the app.
From the Connections menu I select New Server.
In the Server/QuickConnect box I type webchat.freenode.net.
A window opens saying "Connectiong to webchat.freenode.net port 6667..."
Then "Can't connect to host: Connection refused" repeatedly.
What next?

Webchat is through the browser; for IRC clients, it is irc.freenode.net

Okay. Uh, yeah, makes sense.
Making progress. I set up a nick name, got into irc.freenode.net, and I think I got into the chatroom. We'll see tomorrow.
