I do not think this will affect Trinity much with its own (T)Qt3 packages, but it still seems relevant. I can imagine it may make it slightly harder to get Trinity into Debian in the future.

Fortunately Qt3 is currently required by LSB. It is therefore unlikely to be removed from Debian any time soon.

Note also that TDE preferentially uses TQt3.
I generally agree with the obsolescence of Qt3, primarily due to the fact that it conflicts internally with Qt4, preventing use of a major modern toolkit, and all related libraries, in Qt3 applications. This is the reason TQt exists, to provide a way to keep TDE's foundation working while also allowing for future growth. :-)
