I've mangled my cursor settings by attempting to install phinger-cursors-dark-left from https://github.com/phisch/phinger-cursors/. Now in Control Center => Peripherals => Mouse, Cursor Theme tab, I have only Adwaita and No theme (classic X cursors).
It appears that TDE uses a specific archive format for cursor packages, different from those used by Gnome, etc. I get a message, "The file index.theme does not appear to be a valid cursor theme archive."
There is no description of the file format in the Help Center file for the Mouse module, though there is a cryptic message: "The features provided by this tab may not be available on some systems. Your system may need to be updated to support cursor themes."
There appear to be no configuration files in .trinity/share/apps|config relating to the Mouse module.

Apparently you missed my recent thread last posted to Monday: pointer size adjust
# grep rsor .trinity/share/config/startupconfig # kcminputrc Mouse cursorTheme '' kcminputrc_mouse_cursortheme="DMZ-White" # kcminputrc Mouse cursorSize '' kcminputrc_mouse_cursorsize="32" #
Other than a text editor, I don't know any way to change this file's content. I had to put "DMZ-White" and "32" in place of "" to make the changes I wanted.

No, I did read that, but I didn't realize that it's the only way to enable a different cursor set.

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

What is funny in this context: My .Xresources has Xcursor.size: 48 in it and this is quoted by almost all applications but kmails window dividers.

I use Debian, Fedora, Mageia, openSUSE and *buntu with TDE. They're not consistent in whether or which entries in /etc/Xresource*, ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources are employed by TDE or KDE3 desktops. The existence of the empty entries in startupconfig suggest to me that once upon a time someone started to setup a way for KControl to manage cursors, but never found a way to finish that was consistent among distros before upstream KDE switched to v4 or TDE was forked.
