I use Konversation personally--clean, fast, and all the information I ever need is visible at a glance.

konversation works well for me. kopete seems sorta overkill+complicated, if only IRC is needed.

Also KVIRC. Konversation is a bit easier and more simple, KVIRC is if you want/need extre features.
