I left Dropbox a few years ago when they announced they would only support ext4 filesystem for Linux. Since there's no technical reason for that requirement, it seemed to me that they don't want to support Linux. I don't use ext4 because it has a slightly higher chance of data loss than ext3. My workaround was to move to Yandex Disk.
Frankly the last thing I want is trust my data a Russian service.
I also used years ago some alternative to Dropbox whose name I forgot. The problem was and is:
1. possible data loss
2. speed
3. Longevity,
4. and of course data security.
There's another one I came across recently that looks like it does everything I need, KDrive from Infomaniak, but I need to take a more thorough look at it.
