I was waiting to reply until a few other responses had come through. Sometimes I need to others' comments to take note of: "Hey! That is important to me, too."
However, this "Poll" topic has turned into a Troll Fest -- just like so many other posting in "users" and "developers".
Especially "developers"!! Why!!!! There would be FAR MORE PROGRESS in the continued development of Trinity if the developers did not treat trinity-devel@lists.pearsoncomputing.net as a chat room where they felt compelled to response to each and every troll! Update your killfiles! Good grief, I have! But I'm forced to slog through all the follow-on replies to the nonsense .
KDE4 should simply be OFF TOPIC -- along with prostate problems, hemorrhoid afflictions, and microsoft business practices, etc., usw.
I would like to see the developers cranking out code and updates, and NOT cranking out Troll bombs.
Anyway, that's _my_ opinion...
Maybe, once I've calmed down, I'll respond On Topic to Tim's Poll inquiry.
sigh... Jonesy

It is not a troll fest in the usual meaning of the words. This is the first posting I have seen in this thread that I would regard as a troll.

Why? KDE 4 users are our main detractors. In origin we are all, one way or another, refugees from KDE 4. Responses referring to KDE 4 are therefore very much "On Topic to Tim's Poll inquiry".

Developers work in their "spare" time. They are free to use that time any way they wish. If they need to relax a bit, good for them. If you feel that more work should be done, you are free to do it.

There is a good point made above. This is supposed to be the development list, where the direction of TDE is discussed along with the technical nitty-gritty of how to get there. I guess if there is a flame war going on (my apologies for my part in the last one; I lost my temper a bit with what was being flung around) the best thing to do is to completely ignore that thread. I wouldn't expect anyone to read it really, and I don't think anyone else would either.
Left unchecked I have no idea what kind of damage KDE claims against TDE could do. Maybe nothing, maybe something serious. It is unfortunate that KDE feels that they have to criticise the TDE internals from time to time, and that the press picks up on inflammatory comments from the TDE community, blows them out of context, and prints them so as to keep old wounds fresh.

I thought this was the users list. i.e. http://trinitydesktop.org/mailinglist.php
I was wondering why all the posts about compiling TDE, though I know users who compile their OS and apps.

Darnit, I thought this was the users list as well. Apparently the KDE devs responded on the users list and I, being subscribed to both lists, didn't notice.
Sorry about that.

Um, am I missing something? This *is* the users list.
trinity-users@lists.pearsoncomputing.net
And I haven't seen any responses here from the KDE devs, or if they have, they've been very quite about the fact that they're KDE devs.

Hmmm. I'm going to put my foot in my mouth and stay off my Email client for the rest of the day :-) When one can't read the messages coming in correctly it is a danger signal...

Tim -
If this list, in spite of its name, is the development list, where is the users list? Or isn't there one??
On second thoughts, I am taking development time by asking Tim. Perhaps someone else on this list, who is on this list in error and who is not a developer, could enlghten me?

This (trinity-users@lists.pearsoncomputing.net) is the users list. I apologize for any confusion I caused; as I mentioned I am subscribed to both lists and managed to send my message to the wrong one.

This is from your original message:
kb9vqf@pearsoncomputing.net to trinity-devel@lists.pearsoncomputing.net cc trinity-users@lists.pearsoncomputing.net
You sent the poll to both the users & devel list. That's why I got that bounceback on the fact that I sent that email to the devel list which I'm not subscribed to.
It happens. Just keep up the good work on TDE & you will probably be forgiven.....:-)
Ok maybe I'm missing it all. But isn't the user list for user and the devel list for devel stuff? If so, what's the problem?
Kate
PS the only thing truly wrong with TDE is the print pizza and chips function doesn't work.

Yes, sorry, Tim. I didn't see your reply until after I had posted.

Time was sending to the wrong mailing list by accident.
