Trinity 14.0.6 preliminary.
Don't know if it is a feature of ksnapshot or a misconfiguration
somewhere from me, but it is getting absolutely annoying what happens.
I have a website, a document or whatsoever on my screen in full
A4-papersize. Now I want a printout of a small part of it. Call
ksnapshot, choose "region" "new snapshot" and then draw a border around
the desired part. Press "print" and then print it. Bull... I get a
print in landscape, useless and even worse not even the original layout
reappears.
Stop ksnapshot, restart it and same procedure with again the same
miserable result.
Stop, restart, same procedure but no actual printing, instead I look
into the printer properties. And there, big surprise, landscape was
marked as to be printed BUT all 4 orientations were grayed out, so I
couldn't change that.
Checked in tdeprint the printersettings, nothing wrong, in "instances"
"settings" all 4 orientations were available and portrait was marked as
to be applied in the default printer.
Checked kprinter and of course the settings of tdeprint were there also
valid.
But then I had an idea. If I selected in ksnapshot a larger part of the
screen, say more than half A4, what would happen?
Yes, some ugly words from me and there it was: portrait was marked but
still all 4 possibilities grayed out.
So ksnapshot decides how it wants to print and doesn't leave the user a
chance to get a result, that he wants. Utterly bull....
Any suggestion, where I could look to alter this behaviour?
Phiebie.

Hi
I'm trying to get skype sound to work but apparently the monkeys at MS removed
alsa support and replaced it with pulse, which is rubbish. Even though I have
pulse enable (pclos - ali's remaster), it still doesn't show up. Is there a
fix to re-enable alsa or the like?

Last post ack the list archives was in August 2017, after which the list
was silent, and my msgs were apparently routed to /dev/null. But I
didn't unsubscribe.
My ISP has been known to block/bounce but pearsoncomputing.net was in
their "whitelist", I put it there yonks ago.
Anyway, I'm glad to be back.

The problem becomes, and naturally so, that TDE may need to become upstream
for the various components of Amarok, or Amarok itself it upsteam support is gone.
There was a lengthy discussion on the openSuSE list about Amarok and
specifically whether a "better alternatives exist.". There were none found
that provided the traditional features or behavior of Amarok, which mitigates
in favor of patching Amarok and continuing to offer it. There were always
shortcomings in the supposed better alternatives that either required hacks or
workarounds, even for behavior as trivial as continual play.
Just another angle to consider. The openSuSE list discussion was within the
past 2-weeks, though I must have deleted that thread.

I'm a long-time TDE user who just updated to the final TDE 14.0.8 from
the 14.0.8 development version. I'm using a Debian sid version with
kernel 5.6.0-7.1-liquorix-amd64 which has been working well. The update
went well and everything appears to be working fine (not too surprised
there as the development versions were good) but there is an issue at
startup.
There are 3 notices that come up that indicate the r4-xdg-update script
has not completed successfully. I've restarted about 6 or 7 times but it
hasn't gone away.
It says
"error code 9
Common failures include file and directory permissions"
The file "r14-xgd-update-validation-test9.txt" contains the text below
<Filename>kde-kpdf_part.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-ksensors.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-ksensors.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-superkaramba.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-fsview.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-kbiff.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-kbiff.desktop</Filename>
<Filename>kde-kpdf_part.desktop</Filename>
I'm not sure exactly how to proceed but expect the solution is some
relatively simple editing of some TDE configuration files. Please advise.
Thank you in advance for any assistance rendered.

Hello,
I upgraded tde-trinity.
But when finish :
# apt update
and it proposes me to do it again :
# apt list --upgradable
For all many tde packages :
4:14.0.9~pre7-0debian10.0.0+0 all [could be upgradable from :
4:14.0.9~pre3-0debian10.0.0+0]
# uname -ra
Linux laptop 4.19.0-9-686-pae #1 SMP Debian 4.19.118-2 (2020-04-29) i686
GNU/Linux
What is the problem between 4:14.0.9 and 4.19.0-9-686-pae kernels ?
and why the upgrade is not achieved ?
Thanks and happy sunday.

I'm build a linux workstation for my wife -- her first linux box.
Since her last immersion in command line usage was back in CP/M day,
and then DOS before Windows, I am trying to set her up with as many
GUI solutions as possible. konqueror is, of course, a prime choice!
We both work on web sites, and move "stuff" to and fro a VPS we share.
In my own usage I've been using `sshfs` to mount the remote file system
on a mount point in my $HOME -- do whatever I needed to do -- then
unmount the remote file system. ... all at the command line.
An annoyance I've always cursed is the inability of `cp`, `mv`, or even
`rsync` to replicate the from_file permissions to the to-file's
permissions with the `sshfs` mounts -- because the owning userids are
different between the two file systems. Even tho', immediately after
getting the error message from `cp`, I can `chmod` the permissions to
what I want without any error. sigh...
That command line Miky-Maus was not something I wanted to foist on my
wife. So, I spent maybe an hour today trying to find a way around the
problem in general. No joy.
So, for the first time in my testing, I fired up konqueror with two
panes: one pane on $HOME/ amd the other pane on the already-mounted
remote file system.
Then I copied from a local directory a large collection of files with
many, many different possible permissions set all the way through the
public permissions. I was going to go through the "right click on the
file" => "Properties" => "permissions" => owner|group|others change
process to make a write up for her to follow.
KONQUEROR ROCKS!
The file were all copied up to the
remote file system WITH THE ORIGINAL FILE'S PERMISSIONS!!!
KONQUEROR ROCKS!
Thank you KDE; Thank you TDE; Thank you Trinity!!
(Gee... I sure hope that's not a bug!!! If so, DON'T FIX IT!!!)
Life is good!

Hi all,
is there a way to change the forgroud color of checkboxes/radiobuttons? I have dark background and the markings are black, which is not very good to see (attachment, 1. checkbox is checked). Standardtextcolor is white.

When switching virtual desktops back to the one where Firefox is open, when
certain pages are displaying on the active tab, the window contents do not
repaint until moving the mouse over a mouseover effect (e.g. a hoverable
link) changes the window status. The window then shows its contents.
This started for me with Firefox 73, got somewhat better with Firefox 74
(could only reproduce it on one page, a specific Vbulletin forum listing)
and got worse than ever with Firefox 75. Now it happens with most pages
that have a list of hoverable links. For example Vbulletin forum listings,
and even https://www.kernel.org
This does not happen with Fluxbox, seems to be only with TDE/twin. I can
reproduce it on both my Manjaro and Linux From Scratch systems.
I thought maybe enabling the compositing ("composition manager") might help
with this (I build support for it, but I don't enable it) but it neither
helps nor harms.
A previous cause of this in Firefox was "focusmanager.testmode" but that's
set to false now and not applicable.
Anybody else seeing this behaviour, or know of any settings or command line
arguments for twin that might change this paint behaviour?
Thanks,
