I see this error popup on various installations. The instant one is a 32bit
Bookworm freshly upgraded from Bullseye with 14.0.12. Bullseye does it too. The
trigger is left clicking on the menu starter. On those where it ever occurs, it
only happens once. Trying again after dismissing the popup always works. Anyone
familiar with it, what to do to eliminate it?

Maybe somebody can reproduce this: opening the attached pdf in kpdf only shows the formulas, but not the text. Opening the same pdf in xpdf works flawless.

Don't know if it is a feature of ksnapshot or a misconfiguration
somewhere from me, but it is getting absolutely annoying what happens.
I have a website, a document or whatsoever on my screen in full
A4-papersize. Now I want a printout of a small part of it. Call
ksnapshot, choose "region" "new snapshot" and then draw a border around
the desired part. Press "print" and then print it. Bull... I get a
print in landscape, useless and even worse not even the original layout
reappears.
Stop ksnapshot, restart it and same procedure with again the same
miserable result.
Stop, restart, same procedure but no actual printing, instead I look
into the printer properties. And there, big surprise, landscape was
marked as to be printed BUT all 4 orientations were grayed out, so I
couldn't change that.
Checked in tdeprint the printersettings, nothing wrong, in "instances"
"settings" all 4 orientations were available and portrait was marked as
to be applied in the default printer.
Checked kprinter and of course the settings of tdeprint were there also
valid.
But then I had an idea. If I selected in ksnapshot a larger part of the
screen, say more than half A4, what would happen?
Yes, some ugly words from me and there it was: portrait was marked but
still all 4 possibilities grayed out.
So ksnapshot decides how it wants to print and doesn't leave the user a
chance to get a result, that he wants. Utterly bull....
Any suggestion, where I could look to alter this behaviour?

Does anybody know if there's a TDE way to replace <enter> with <shift>+<enter> for just one specific application windows? Reasomn is, that the last update broke OpenSCAD input: to vreate a new line it now requires <shift>+<enter> instead of <enter>, which is kind of strange.

Hi Everyone:
I am trying of install some TDE applications or update others on tumbleweed.
The problem is a dependence compatibility problem. TDE require
Libjasper.so.6, but TW have Libjasper.so.7
Overriding the update warning the TDE works REASONABLY fine.
How i can solve the warnings? Thanks to all

Speaking of this, is it possible to get thumbnails in the "tree" or "detailed
list" views? I primarily use these and it only shows an image of the MIME
type (a picture, a video)
One of the very few things I find annoying about konqueror in TDE is that,
when using it as a file manager, if I click on an image file (a .png, for
example), the preview it shows me is not correctly sized to the visible pane.
Rather, it seems to be displayed, always, at full size... which means that
most of the time it doesn't actually fit in the pane and I can see only a
portion of the image.
I don't think there's any way to change this behaviour, but I thought I'd
better ask here before filing a feature request. So, is there some way to
change this behaviour so that the image is scaled correctly so that it always
fits in the pane?
(Fitting images to the pane is the way the konqueror works in plasma5, for
example -- although "modern" konqueror has so many other annoyances that I
find it unusable; but the "automatic-fit-images-to-the-pane" behaviour is a
great improvement on the TDE behaviour described above.)

Okay, so here's my problem. I want a basic calculator, at least the 4
functions, although I don't mind having other goodies, but I really just need
a basic calculator for doing simple tasks like figuring out whether I have
any money left in my account.
I got kcalc-trinity downloaded, managed to change the colors to make it more
visible, but now I find that it cannot be resized, nor the size of characters
in the display enlarged.
If not a Trinity program, then I'd be glad to try a non-TDE program, but there
again I run into the same problem with every calculator I've tried. The only
other one that I use sometimes is galculator, but while I can enlarge its
size, the characters stay so tiny that I cannot read them, cannot make out
the difference between x, +, and so on, and the keypad also has unreadable
numbers.
There was one that I remembered, qalculate, of which there was supposed to be
a Trinity version, but neither the Trinity version nor any others (Gnome,
gtk, etc.) with download and install. Something about dependencies, it seems,
but when I did a search for the deb package, I get only an error page.
Is there any calculator that I can resize both the gui frame of the program
(not sure if that's the right terminology) as well as the size of the
characters? Or is there some way that I could hack the Trinity version of
kcalc to make it bigger?

I need a sound played 10 minutes before each hour during the work day, such
that it does not interfere with what’s on the screen, grab the mouse, or grab
the keyboard. Scheduling it with cron is easy, but I can’t seem to get the
sound to play reliably. I’m currently using:
/usr/bin/play --no-show-progress --volume .5 /opt/trinity/share/sounds/KDE_Beep_Connect.ogg
Sometimes that plays other times it’s silent.
I’ve also tried:
kaboodle /opt/trinity/share/sounds/KDE_Event_2.ogg
Which always plays, but I don’t know how to start it either minimized, closed
to the system tray, or some other way so it doesn’t cause issues. I’ve seen
some hokey solutions using wmctrl and/or xdotool, but they still pop up the
program (kaboodle) before minimizing it.
AV isn’t really my forte, and I don’t really care what program works, does
anyone have experience doing something like this?

Not sure what caused this weirdness, but I thought it best to make a report,
just in case it actually matters.
I was trying to find a desktop calculator that I actually like, and among
those that I downloaded was kcalc-trinity, which I've used before. But when I
downloaded my list of packages and dependencies, I kept getting an error
message:

After trying apt-get build-dep, and then apt-get update, which did not improve
my results, it occurred to me to try changing my sources.list from Devuan
Chimaera to Debian Bullseye; and presto! worked like a charm.
Some may recall an earlier discussion (when Leslie was attempting a new Devuan
installation), I posited my opinion that there is probably no difference
between these packages when it comes to third-party repositories (such as
Trinity itself). From what I can tell, third-party developers thus far do not
create special Devuan packages, and most do not even acknowledge the
existence of Devuan, so Debian packages work just fine.
For the Trinity repositories, I assume that the link to Chimaera packages is
just a redirect to the Debian packages. Otherwise, this would be a
reduplication of effort and server space, If this is wrong, I expect to be
corrected by somebody who knows better. However, this seems like proof of
concept, since the package was available by changing to the Debian links.
I do know that Debian and Devuan packages definitely should not be used
interchangeably. When Devuan was first forked, this was almost true, except
for a few systemd-dependent items, but now they have diverged more and more.
These changes do not appear to have prompted third-party developers to create
packages specifically for Devuan, but I am sure that this will be changing.
It could be that this package alone is missing, or that there is a problem
with the link to this server, or that redirection is failing, or whatever.
But I did try several times, with the same bad result, and after changing the
lines in my sources.list for the Trinity repositories, everything worked like
normal.
By the way, I am using the PTB repositories now, following Slavek's recent
recommendation.
