CentOS 7 current, TDE current. Nvidia Quadro M2000 (4 x DP out), 2 x
Dell P2416D displays.
Applied patches last week and one of them (that seemed to be related
to the Nvidia proprietary drivers) blew up the system. Eventually
ended up re-installing in an ultimately-failed bid to get productive
again (this is my work system).
Decided to forgo the Nvidia drivers and use the open source stuff.
Xrandr is a nightmare though, so I thought "well, just use the TDE
built-in screen controls".
Problem is that System Settings -> Monitor & Display can only see one
of the displays. How do I get it to see the 2nd display?
Yes, it's plugged in. Yes, I've checked "Enable global display
control". Yes, I've clicked "Rescan Displays" (many times). "Test
Settings" gets me "xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output
default".
Not sure the system is seeing the first display correctly even though
it's working (I am typing this message on it) because while is sees
2560 x 1440 pixel, it thinks the refresh rate is 0 Hz (though, again,
its working).
Do I have to create and edit an Xorg.conf? Because I tried that and
it didn't go well not to mention defeating the purpose of a "settings"
GUI ...

Hi list,
I'm on TDE R14.0.4, Mint 18 installation. If I insert any USB memory stick I get
two icons on the desktop and two pop-up windows notifying me "a new medium has
been detected". E.g. one icon gives hint "/dev/sdd", the other one "/dev/sdd1".
One of both mounts device, the other one states "unable to open device" even if
I press it first. The correct message is:
========= snip ===============
Unable to mount this device.
Potential reasons include:
Improper device and/or user privilege level
Corrupt data on storage device
Technical details:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod:
No such interface 'org.freedesktop.UDisks2.Filesystem' on
object at path /org/freedesktop/UDisks2/block_devices/sdd
========= snip ===============
Anyone any idea where to look for this problem? Even an USB printer opens a
notifier window asking what to do with the removable device.
I already moved away the .trinity folder and logged in again without success.
Any help is appreciated
Gerhard
PS: I could try to chose 'do nothing' and check the 'always do this for this
type of media' checkbox for the non working device but I fear, that afterwards
even the correct working notification will not display any longer.

I'm on TDE 14.0.4 release on Linux Mint. Mittle button paste forks from Libre
Office to Kmail and vice versa without problems. I can remember that I
sometime
faced the problem that it did not work though.

Well, I screwed up and clicked this option in error after
right-clicking on an image (planning instead to click "View Image.)
And, it just happened to be ONE OF MY OWN WEB SITES! sigh...
Well, no problem, right? I just go into one of the menu dropdowns,
select the appropriate function. and delete the web site from the list
(which otherwise should be totally empty anyway.)
No joy. No such dropdown --> function that gets me there.
konqueror 3.5.10
trinity 3.5.13.3
In doing a web search, I believe what I want is
Tools --> Manage Images
... or the somesuch.
However I have _NO_ Tools --> Manage Images.
My Tools dropdown contains
Find file ... <<-greyed out
HTML Settings
Minitools
Translate web page
Archive web page
Change browser identification
I can find no way to "Manage Images" in konqueror
Ok. Then I need to hack some .cfg or .rc file I suppose.
Which file ... where?
(Doing a recursive grep did not reveal any such file.)
(Or else, my grep-fu is inadequate.)
(I guess I could change my domain name ... :-)
Many thanks in advance!
Jonesy
there's no doubt someplace this can be set, but i can't find it: just now i
sought to copy some text from kmail to a libreoffice document. before the
recent upgrade i would just select text in any application, pick a place
in any other application, right click, and voila, it would be pasted. but
no more.
i can of course do this among tde applications, but not going to or coming
from other applications, such as firefox and libreoffice. i can still
right click on the selection, choose copy, then go to the document i'm
working on and select paste, and it works. but that interrupts the flow.
does anyone know what i need to do to restore the previous behavior?
thanks!

Hi users,
I am looking for someone to help me test kgpg and help us make it gnupg2
capable but also gnupg<2 compatible. This means test under stretch and
jessie. Advantage would be to can patch and build as it would speed up
process.
I started updating piece by pice few weeks ago, but it turned out that some
things changed significantly with the new version of gnupg and I can not do
all the work myself. I was thinking may be someone can help test and
document the test cases, so that we can reproduce or write testing code in
future.
example
Test case 1 : sign single key
Step 1 import a key
Step 2 right click on the key imported
Step 3a: password prompt
Step 3b: (dialog pop up) select sign option
Step 4 press continue
Step 5 select secret key and press ok
Expected result: key signed and icon turns green
Actual result: key signed
Pass/Fail: fail
Comments: key was signed but icon did not turn green
I don't have the time to go through every single case, I already fixed the
main part like displaying the keys, uids and signatures already, importing
and also the keyserver and just finished the sign use case. Now I would do
the revoke case next and would pass the code for testing to someone as I
think a full regression is needed. I think it should be doable in 10-20h.
Let me know if interested.
regards

I'm also suffering a tiny fonts problem on an Asus Ux330u with an QHD
screen. the fonts on the taskbar (kicker) and the font on the menu
window of Trinity Control Center' are miniscule as are fonts on
applications like LibreOffice, GIMP, Pan, etc. as far as I can tell,
it affects all apps, whether Gnome or KDE.
the thing also boots to Gnome (Gnome or so-called Debian Desktop
Environment and Cinnamon) and to Windows 10, no problem with fonts. if
I were only sure which config files to steal from Gnome!
xdpyinfo |grep -B2 resolution -->
dimensions: 3200x1800 pixels (846x476 millimeters)
resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
I've tried various settings in fonts enabling and disabling dpi. does
seem to do best with
Enabled
120 DPI
using exegnu version.
advice please.
(week ago posted about overcoming UEFI; got that under control.)

The bug starts here.
Hello all,
Klaptop is no more working on my laptop with newer distributions. Both suspend
and hibernate just lock.
I guess that acpi is no more accessed the same way. On Debian 9 I was able to
use s2ram and s2disk, but could not test anything under TDE because I could
not access teh repositories to install.
The latest SUSE does not have these utilities anymore, it uses systemctl
instead. I was able to get Klaptop to work by
replacing /opt/bin/klaptop_acpi_helper with a script running systemctl
suspend. Seems to work so far but it's rather a hack.
Shouldn't klaptop be brought to an up-to-date level? Or provide some way of
editing the suspend/hibernate commands depending on the machine?
Would this be a big task?
Thierry
I am under Ubuntu 14.04 and TDE 14.04 too.
This Ubuntu Advantage is not installed on my system so I assume it is
not required.
However I installed TDE from the live TDE image so I did not installed
Ubuntu separately.
I think it is safe to remove completely this Ubuntu Advantage but it is
your choice...

Hi,
To see what is this "Ubuntu Advantage" you can go there:
https://buy.ubuntu.com/
and see if you need this thing or not...
