Hi,
I will setup a Lenovo T410i laptop which has a nvidia grafic card. The
laptop should use additioaly second monitor when in the docking station
and of course expand the gui across both screens.
The (original) driver can't handle this - allways assumes both motiors
are connected. So I installed the nouvea driver and get trouble with tdm.
Tdm starts and I see the clock for a short time and then tdm terminates
and a text only terminal login is shown. When login and call "startx", I
get a working trinity session and the crash report manager is shown.
So my question is "where can I look for error messages of tdm" or has
some one else an idea or a solution for the problem?
Many thanks in advance
Rolf
Fresh CentOS 7, patched, added repos for EPEL, NUX, whatever else was
listed. Accidentally installed "trinity-tdebase" first. Pulled all
those packaged and then installed "trinity-desktop-all".
"systemctl disable gdm.service" worked and kdm/xdm failed (likely
because I don't have those installed) but this fails:
systemctl enable tdm.service
Failed to execute operation: Access denied
Adding -f to the end doesn't seem to make a difference. Moderate
googling is not helping! I've rebooted several times with no apparent
effect.
Since it behaves identically when I try tdm.service as it does when I
try xdm or kdm, is it possible that I'm missing a step somewhere?
This system was Ubuntu+TDE and while I've been fiddling with
RHEL/CentOS for ages, CentOS and it's systemctl are still new to me.
Never was a Fedora person.

Hi Guys,
PCLOS Trinity 14.0X
For the past few days I have been getting a "Session locked by user"
message with only user can unlock this session.
I can enter my password and get in with everything working OK.
If I reboot, hard reset, I don't get this message again when I login.
I may not see this again for two or three days, and then its back.
I don't normally leave the computer switched on so I might restart the
computer twice a day.
Anybody any clue as to why this has started to occur.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
Now that Firefox is directly available from a Wheezy repository I
recently decided to replace Iceweasel with Firefox-esr. Once I had the
latter up and running I deleted the former.
When I next tried to open an html file from Dolphin I received the
TDEInit failure message: "TDEInit could not launch 'Iceweasel'. Could
not find 'Iceweasel' executable."
I did an online search for information about TDEInit and found that
others had problems with it, and the problems had to do with something
called 'binutils' I think. My knowledge of information technology is
unfortunately insufficient to allow me to understand the information I
found.
Could someone please tell me what I need to do to replace 'Iceweasel'
with Firefox-esr so I can open html files in 'Firefox-esr" from Dolphin.

Nope; doesn't work with any combination of suggested ports, protocols or authentication methods. I still get the
"Unrecognized transport protocol. Unable to send message."
message. Judging by the quickness of the message's appearance, I suspect that kmail is not getting to the point of attempting to connect to the server.
It almost seems like there is some prerequisite package or service missing, but all of kmail's required libraries and packages are installed. I've attached the list of installed services that are NOT running in hopes that someone will spot something helpful.

Since migrating from my dying laptop to my new desktop machine, kmail refuses to send mail to my mail provider's servers, forcing me to use their webmail interface (yuk). I have tinkered with the kmail configuration to no avail, and I've even tried copying the old kmailrc file over the new; but nothing works.
Currently, when I attempt to upload mail, I see this message in the status area:
"Unrecognized transport protocol. Unable to send message."
During my struggles, I also saw, in a separate window, the attached security failure message.
I have also attached snapshots of my SMTP configuration, and this link points to setup instructions for my mail provider's SMTP server:
http://email.about.com/od/Accessing-Mail-com/f/Mail-com-SMTP-Server-Setting…
Neither of these messages gives me enough detail about the problem to know how to proceed. I suspect something is corrupted in the kmail config, but deleting and replacing the Sending entry hasn't helped, nor has replacing the entire file with the working one from the old machine.
mail.com has suggested that I change from using pop3 to imap (like that would help), and

which has not helped. Using kmail's "Check what the server supports" sets TLS and PLAIN. I'm guessing that TLS = STARTTLS, and SSH = Encryption. The config on my old system has SSH and PLAIN set. Neither of these works on my new system.
Any suggestions are welcome.

Felix,
Thanks for your help with this. I followed your suggestions for reinstalling, and (after a struggle to get Network-Manager working) it's working better.

I didn't think so.

That is my choice of font; I find it easier to read than a sans-serif font.

It is a new installation of OpenSuSE Leap 42.2 on a bare system. I first
installed a minimal image, then installed X, then Trinity. I did it that way
because I had considerable trouble on my old Leap 42.1 system getting rid of
all of the KDE4 and KDE Plasma5 junk that always triy to take over my
window-manager and display-manager.

Attached is a comparison of my system (on the left) and your list (on the

Okay. I ran zypper and got these results:
$ zypper se -s gtk|grep qt
| qtcurve-gtk2 | package | 1.8.19~git20150303-2.2 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Leap-42.2-Oss
| qtcurve-gtk2-debuginfo | package | 1.8.19~git20150303-2.2 | x86_64 | openSUSE-Leap-42.2-Debug
i | trinity-gtk-qt-engine | package | 2:0.8-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
| trinity-gtk-qt-engine-debuginfo | package | 2:0.8-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
| trinity-gtk-qt-engine-debugsource | package | 2:0.8-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
i | trinity-gtk3-tqt-engine | package | 2:0.5-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
| trinity-gtk3-tqt-engine-debuginfo | package | 2:0.5-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
| trinity-gtk3-tqt-engine-debugsource | package | 2:0.5-14.0.4_1.oss422 | x86_64 | Trinity x86_64
zypper says both are installed. Is the presence of qtcurve-gtk2 an issue?
