[trinity-users] What has to be done to keep updates from obliterating my tdmrc customizations?

This has been happening on all 14.0.x installations to Debian and openSUSE. I know I can lock it down with chattr, but that leaves the package managers showing what appears to be that tdm latest is not installed, and a would be tdmrc replacement sitting in /etc/trinity/tdm/. :-( -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Trinity and Gnome son't see the same screen

I have a laptop (Thinkpad X220t) freshly reinstalled with latest openSuSE (I did not yet have time to check under other distributions). I installed Trinity over Gnome 3; If I boot and start Trinity (first user) I have nothing on the external screen (which is a beamer, 1024x768). Internal screen is at 1366*900. If I start a second user (under Gnome) the internal screen resizes to 1024x768 and I get an image on the beamer. Thierry

Hi I have set, besides an US keyboard and US international keyboard via in the tde interface setxkbmap -model pc104 -layout us -variant intl In the past (that is the last 10 years) typing "a--> ä But not anymore now: "a --> ¨a What can I do? Regards Uwe Brauer

That's the response to: tdecmshell fonts This isn't the first time I've had to ask this, but I can never remember how to locate anything that provided an answer, likely because I've asked on IRC, where I have no archive, instead of here. Other than kinfocenter5, I don't see any package or menu item containing infocenter either. It's also missing from the KControl window. 14.0.4 Nothing I can find in KControl makes any titlebar objects bigger. I would expect something in either Window Decorations or Icons, but no joy. Among icons, several of the types offer only the default smallest size, 16px or 22px. trinity-accessibility is not installed, but I'm avoiding trying it because I don't expect to need kmag, msayit, kttsd or kmousetool, which trying to install it seems to require. mime types from extensions only?

konqueror can only tell file types from the extensions? I used KDE3 a long time ago, and then KDE4, so i might be confused. I have the impression that KDE3 could tell a file type with out depending on the extension. Right? I did something wrong with the config, or didn't install a package? The preview of folders is a KDE4 thing too? (Linux mint 18.2 mate 64bit)

Can't install on Fedora

Hello all, I'm trying Fedora 26 (no experience qith that distro, I rather don't like Red Hat so much). I follow the instructions on the wiki but when trying yum install trinity-desktop I get "Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'trinity-r14', disabling I checked with my browser and the repository seems to be there. Anyone use Fedora? Thierry

Smplayer failing to start

The warnings don't seem to be a problem as I've seen them a lot of times before without noticing any glitches. The system is Debian wheezy with TDE 14.04. Displays ... again ...

CentOS 7 current, TDE current. Nvidia Quadro M2000 (4 x DP out), 2 x Dell P2416D displays. Applied patches last week and one of them (that seemed to be related to the Nvidia proprietary drivers) blew up the system. Eventually ended up re-installing in an ultimately-failed bid to get productive again (this is my work system). Decided to forgo the Nvidia drivers and use the open source stuff. Xrandr is a nightmare though, so I thought "well, just use the TDE built-in screen controls". Problem is that System Settings -> Monitor & Display can only see one of the displays. How do I get it to see the 2nd display? Yes, it's plugged in. Yes, I've checked "Enable global display control". Yes, I've clicked "Rescan Displays" (many times). "Test Settings" gets me "xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default". Not sure the system is seeing the first display correctly even though it's working (I am typing this message on it) because while is sees 2560 x 1440 pixel, it thinks the refresh rate is 0 Hz (though, again, its working). Do I have to create and edit an Xorg.conf?
