Hello,
I just installed v14.0 on Mint 16, but irritatingly if I rename icons
under Trinity I find it has screwed around with my icons if I then log into
xfce. Is this because the two desktop environments share a config file
somewhere? I've found this recent habit of DE's to 'bleed' across to one
another quite annoying. Can I separate the two completely by creating two
files dealing with icon properties, then direct each DE to use its own
particular one?

Dear Tim,
The icons under TDE are labelled things like 'Firefox Web Browser', or
simply 'sigil' or 'calibre'. When I rename them to the format I want -
'Firefox 24.0' or 'Sigil 0.72' - and then log out and switch over to xfce
my Firefox icon (for instance) is now called 'Firefox 24.0.desktop' and the
icon has also changed. This .desktop icon is unlaunchable and uneditable.
The only thing to do is delete it and re-create the Firefox launcher - I
just run into the menu and right-click|add to desktop, then correct it to
what I want.
'Preventing' a user from having to create completely separate desktop
shortcuts is 1984 double-speak. The whole idea of having multiple DE's is
to HAVE separate shortcuts so each desktop can be unique. Being
'prevented' from doing so runs counter to the linux philosophy imho. Might
as well be using Windoze or that other OS named after a pome fruit(!)
I hope I'm not the only one very annopyed by this little taste of
big-brother telling me how to behave, when I'm perfectly capable of making
up my mind on my own. Any advice people out there can provide to correct
this new 'feature' will be gratefully received.

Hi there.
Thanks to the previous post re "Icons on task bar" I took a look at
.trinity/share/apps/kickerrc, one more time to track down the source of
that annoying little '*'.
It's in the system tray, but I can't find the systemtrayapplet.desktop
file to examine what app it belongs to, so I can remove it.
It's the little orange circle between the calender icon and the network
icon.
Any hints?

Hi
I am running Ubuntu 14.04 and installed trinity R14 on top of it
I just compiled GNU emacs and tried to start it.
it crashes with
emacs
Undefined color: "FOREGROUND"
xemacs is fine.
emacs works in Ubuntu. Any idea?
this is a serious bug.
thanks
Uwe Brauer
Hello
till version R14 I was used to the following workflow:
After the installation of a 3rd party software, for example xemacs21.5
I installed an icon in the desktop with a link to the application.
I then moved the icon to the panel and
voila it was included automatically.
However this seems not to work in R14, what do I miss?
thanks
Uwe Brauer

Where do I find the start up file(s) in oder to edit them. Debian Wheezy and
3.10.13.2.
I _have_ STFW, RTFM (see my other plea for help). Google has a passion for
KDE4. Pity I don't share it.
Thanks.

Hello,
While trying yet again to get audio working I managed to clobber my
TDE 14 setup. Want to reinstall from live CD (on USB stick). Tried
the Ubuntu one; the installer didn't let me complete the partition
setup. Tried the most recent Ubuntu nightly; can't even get to the
GUI or installer program.
I don't care much for what I've seen of PCLinuxOS. Maybe I can mess
around with Debian/Exe again. But really, isn't there something I can
use and recommend to others that just works???? (i.e., with
functioning wifi and sound)
