I am running TDE on Ubuntu Lucid 64 bits.
This morning, Adept Notifier said there are 227 packages to be updated (All from
TDE)
I started the download and installation with adept_updater.
For the first time in years, something has gone wrong since adept_updater crashed.
Now I cannot restart it:

Hello
I just installed Kubuntu 10.04 on a different machine and
then trinity. Everything went smooth, also my matlab
installation went fine.
Then I installed kscreensaver-kde3
(I am now on a different machine and don't have all the details)
kscreensaver-xsavers-extra-kde3 kscreensaver-xsavers-kde3
and the trouble started, finally I had to do a
sudo dpkg -i --force-all /var/cache/apt/archives/kscrensaver-Idont-the details.deb
But the installation proceeded, but after that,
I could only run matlab as root, otherwise I got a
segmentation fault.
When I use KDE4 Everything is fine. I repeated the matlab
installation and the problem remains.
Any idea? (Otherwise I have to reinstall the whole beast I am
afraid)

Is there a way to extract information about currently played song from Amarok? I would like to
create a plugin for tmux-powerline [1] that displays currently played song on the status bar. I
know there were plugins for Kadu IM that changed users status to show current song, so this is
possible. The question is can this be achieved from bash level or does it require a library call?

I am installing a box with Debian Squeeze and TDE because I need Quanta+.
Lauching Quanta+ I see this message :
"Cervisia [http://www.kde.org/apps/cervisia] - module de gestion de CVS ne sera pas disponible"
saying that cervisia the cvs graphical module will not be available.
In quanta+ when I click on the cervisia icon I see this message (it's a french installation) :
Le module CVS Management (Cervisia) ne peut être chargé.
Les raisons possibles sont :
- CVS Management (Cervisia) n'est pas installé ;
- le fichier trinity/libcervisiapart.la n'est pas installé ou pas accessible.
Two option : or Cervisia is not intalled, or a file trinity/libcervisiapar.la is missing
When I ask apt :

Hello all :-)
I am doing a fresh install of Trinity, on a fresh install of Debian Squeeze,
which so far has no GUI installed.
After I issue:
aptitude install desktop-base-trinity kde-trinity
I get a list of 165 recommends and the question: do you accept this solution?
Well, I think that there are 165, but the first that I can currently see is
number 147. Having dismally failed to find a way to see what I am being
asked to agree to, I decided to accept all recommends, which might at least
reduce the number of things on the screen and let me see what else, if
anything, aptitude is telling me. (Oh, I do miss konsole!)
So I did:
aptitude -r install desktop-base-trinity kde-trinity
That made no difference at all. Still a problem, still 165 recommends (as far
as I can see), still: do you accept this solution? And I still don't know
what "solution" it is recommending. It might be suggesting _removing_ 165
packages.
So, in case I had gone bonkers and got the order wrong I tried:
aptitude install -r desktop-base-trinity kde-trinity
Same result. :-(
I am fresh out of ideas. I have had enough physical problems building this
computer, without software problems as well. :-(

I am restoring my KMail details from Lenny with KDE 3.5.10 to Squeeze
with TDE 3.5.13, patched with Slávek's patches.
I have copied .kde/share/apps/kmail from my backup to
.trinity/share/apps/kmail. It wasn't a success.
The klauncher didn't do anything. (At least, it probably did, but I
have no way of knowing what!!)
I then launched it by various methods, which are self explanatory.
Finally, I launched it from the menu, and got the backtrace (or lack
of it) below.
It's pretty obvious that I have copied something across during the
restauration that has gummed up the works. But how do I find out
what? Or should I simply delete all the files that are there and
start again, but if so, how?
I gummed up kdm-trinity as well, but have managed to sort that out via
Google. This one I am failing with.
Once I get this installation going I'll try to be trouble-free, or at
least quiet, for some time! :-(

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which
prevents creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was
seriously corrupted in the crash.
Dear list,
Yesterday I decided to install latest openSUSE (12.2) on one of my laptops. Suse provides KDE3
repositories, though I know not everything went smooth with these builds in the past. I started
in the morning and after spending whole day on installing, configuring and solving problems I
realized that I'm not even halfway finished! The problem is that KDE3 is not being updated to
work with some system services and thus many features just don't work out of the box, e.g.
unmounting of auto-mounted drives or adding new internet connections to NetworkManager (I suspect
polkit to be the culprit). In desperation I installed KDE4, since I need a working computer, but
now I'm trying to figure out what to do next. I am considering switching to Debian or Ubuntu
(though there are no packages for 12.04 LTS!) so I can install Trinity. I am worried however that
I might encounter similar problems as with KDE. So my big question is: does Trinity provide all
these basic fetures like automounting, network management etc. out-of-the-box or does it require
to spend a lot of time to configure the system?
