Sinhalese UTF8 shows up as squares

Hi, I installed Trinity on Ubuntu 10.10 all the KDE 3 apps doesn't show Sinhalese letters(instead it shows squares) there are fonts installed in /usr/share/fonts/truetype. It doesn't show the correct characters even when the font is forced. A friend said that openSUSE KDE shows Sinhalese characters correctly, is there a package that I should upgrade? - Madura A.

DCOP problems under maverick

Hello list, recently I upgraded to maverick and suddenly experienced problems with DCOP commands which worked always fine under intrepid, jaunty, lucid, and karmic. It seems that the QString support has been removed from DCOP in maverick. When I call dcop yakuake DCOPInterface slotRunCommandInSession 'cd /' in a console I get the message cannot handle datatype 'QString' The 'cd /' command is of course not executed in yakuake. Moreover it seems that all DCOP functions that take any QString as parameter or return a QStrings are affected by this issue. In other words: yakuake (and maybe also some other programs) cannot be remotely controlled anymore which is a pitty because I used the remote controlling functionality daily. I used to press F2 in the krusader to open a yakuake session in the current directory, but this does not work anymore. Did someone else experience this problem? Does anybody know how it can be fixed? Hello, list! Question is in subj of the message. Because as for me all (i mean, all, not only kde4) qt4 apps are much slower then they were on qt3. 2.Kubuntu 10.04 installation problem with kde3

Hello I followed Jochens advice and everyting wernt smppth but now when I tried to install new packages I receive The following extra packages will be installed: kdelibs-data kdelibs4c2a The following NEW packages will be installed: kdelibs-data kdelibs4c2a 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 136 not upgraded. 466 not fully installed or removed. Need to get 0B/18.0MB of archives. After this operation, 62.5MB of additional disk space will be used. Do you want to continue [Y/n]? y (Reading database ... 253887 files and directories currently installed.) I install kubuntu 10.4 2 I modify the source.list file and follow the instructions from the webpage however I obtain sudo apt-get install kdelibs4c2a-kde3 Reading package lists... [trinity-users] Trinity-Lite Installation

The recommended way to install Trinity is: apt-get install desktop-base-trinity kde-trinity This will install a lot of stuff many users do not need. I prefer a more minimal, customised system. I also make Trinity live-cd's, in which case disk space is an issue. My method is: ############################################## for i in $( cat kicklist-kde-trinity ) do apt-get -y --force-yes install $i done #################################################### I do that on a basic Squeeze install, out of X. The result seems good and everything works. Below is an example of my kicklist-kde-trinity. It would of course vary to individual requirement Any comments? Probably there are unnecessary lines in the list, e.g. deps of Konqueror or Konsole which get pulled in anyway. Have I missed anything important?
