Does anybody here make /opt a separate partition? Since so many programs
use it that are better not to run with admin privileges, it seems better
not to put /opt in the root partition. But then I wonder if installations
would go awry for those packages that use /opt. (Not only TDE, but also
other programs, such as Seamonkey, OpenOffice, etc., use /opt for
installation.)
beeing on the root-partition has nothing to do with admin privileges.
