hi all
I just upgraded mageia from 4 to 5 and it seems there is no trinity repository for mga5.
I found https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/MageiaInstall and there seems to be nothing for mga5 ;(
did I miss something ? If not can I hope for a mga5 repository soon or will I have to drop mageia ? ( I cant live more than a few weeks without my preferred desktop , trinity. the upgrade from mga4 to mga5 have orphaned all the trinity packages.

Mageia packages are built by Francois, so I guess they will become available sooner or later, depending on when he has time. Out of curiosity, have you tried installing the mageia4 TDE packages on mageia5? probably won't work, but it might be worth giving it a try, unless mageia has a strict packaging versioning system in place (I am completely ignorant about that).
cheers Michele

I havent *installed* them but I didnt uninstall the already installed packages when urpmi told me they were orphaned, and . . . the one I use daily, like konsole or kwrite are still working !
It seems the only problem is that tde disappeared from the list of available desktops on graphical login also i m still using 3.5.13.2 and was planning to upgrade to te latest trinity release after upgrading the distro.

dunno if installing them work, not sure, but just *not uninstalling* is ok and most of it if not all , is still working ! forgive me but i wont try to uninstall and reinstall, i cant live without konsole3 !

well the guy who have been maintaining the mageia trinity rpms since at least mageia 3 could become a mageia maintainer ? not sure he would be interested but . . . I could ask him if this is the only blocker for getting tde included in mga .

Hello, thanks for your interest. I'm not interested in maintaining packages directly in any distribution. But anyone else is free to do so :-)
The first batch of RPM packages for 14.0.1 should be pushed to the mirrors this week-end. - CentOS 6 - CentOS 7 - Fedora 22 - Mageia 5 - PCLinuxOS 2015 - openSUSE 13.2
A second batch will arrive some days later for older distributions. - CentOS 5 (some packages missing because no TDEHWLIB) - Fedora 21 - Mageia 4 - openSUSE 13.1
Afterward, synchronizing all the mirrors will probably take several days.
François
many thanks ! great !
dunno if you re interested in bitcoin, but I d be happy to donate a small 0.05 bitcoins for your work ;) do you have a changetip account ?

That's fantastic news, Can I assume I can do an upgrade from 14? if not no worries to uninstall and install the new packages, and all after I released the August PCLinuxOS remaster too :P
I assume there will be a listing of where the new repositories will be. If I could package I would have certainly gave a massive helping hand.
Thank you for you and others hard work
Alie

to the guy maintaining the mageia packages ( francois ? ) : please read : https://ml.mageia.org/l/arc/dev/2015-08/msg00338.html
Its the followup of this thread, that i cross posted on the mageia mailing list.
mageia would probably be ok to include trinity if they have a packager, so . . . if you are interested in becoming an official mga package maintainer, the way seems wide open !
also, I could possibly help you if needed, at the very least by testing your packages, and possibly even for packaging with a little guidance , i did package a few rpms 10-15 years ago ;)
