I got curious and opened Kontact to see what it does, but I've decided not to use it because it doesn't show my customized toolbars in Kmail; but now if I open any of its components by name or icon, Kontact opens instead. How can I go back to using plain ol' Kmail with my customizations?

Close kontact, which is sitting in the system tray. Side note, you can customize kmail within kontact as well.

I didn't try that, but closing it with File => Quit (as opposed to hitting the window's Close widget) didn't work. However, In Kontact's Settings there is a checklist of modules. I unchecked all of them, and that worked.
