Hi, in Control Center->KDE Components->Spell checking->Dictionary I can select "Ispell default". What does that mean? And there is also "unknown [default | ndeutsch | ngerman].

Trinity uses a selectable external backend program to actually do the spell checking. For example in the USA I can choose between aspell and ispell.

hey,
I wanted to donate some american bucks to the project but had a problem with the website not accepting my completely standard and legit credit card.
"ok," sez I, "I'll just send a check."
but I couldn't find any physical address to send a check to!
and all of this after I posed a question a couple of weeks ago which went unresponded to.
I am really feeling unwanted!

Hi Felmon,
Can you please point me to your earlier message that I did not respond to? Things can get very hectic on this end and I could very easily have overlooked your post.
Also, I don't generally accept checks as that can create headaches on this end, but if you contact me at kb9vqf@pearsoncomputing.net I may be able to help with the PayPal problem or work something out.
Thanks for your desire to donate to the project; it does need it and your generosity is much appreciated!
Tim

I have all the mails I have received from this list since I first joined at the beginning of last October, but this is the first email I have received from you under this name. It would appear that your mail somehow went astray. :-(
I am really feeling unwanted!
Oh, don't do that!
When people don't answer it generally is for one of two reasons: the email didn't arrive (which it would appear may have happened in this case) or no-one knew the answer. Imagine if each of us replied "I don't know" to every question to which we did not know the answer. The emails saying "I don't know" would outnumber by an order or two of magnitude the emails containing useful information. Rarely, if ever, is it because someone is unwanted!!
Anyhow, _I_ want you. The more knowledgeable people we have on this list, the greater the chance of my (inane?) questions getting an answer. And the more people who use and support Trinity, the greater the chance that it will survive and prosper.

I know. I was being facetious. (I tend not to use emoticons. <g>)

I have worked out arrangements with Tim Pearson.
my question remains unanswered but I haven't had time to fool with the issue. klibido allows downloading binaries from newsgroups and after the install of the trinity desktop, I cannot type in any letters in the space used for filtering newsgroup messages. no other app has this problem so far. I may try reinstalling klibido but that seems ham-fisted and I have to be careful not to lose the indexes I have.
btw I am using the USA (alt-intl) keyboard layout.

How odd. It definitely isn't on my computer (I use POP3 and read the mail on my computer), but it is in Gmail's archives.
Not that I know the answer to it.........

Have you tried launching it from the console to see if the log outputs something useful about the problem?

I always launch it from the console but you are right, I should look to see if any interesting errors pop up on the console while it is running! (I am in habit of ignoring those messages since it is very 'chatty' and the messages usually mean nothing.)
I will check that.

Hi Tim,

yes, I know. That's why I listed a couple of choices. Teh problem behind ist: whatever I select in Control Center->KDE Components->Spell checking->Dictionary, KMail seems to use an English dictionary. Well, even English words get marked red. And I don't find Spell checking in the KMail menus.
Hi Tim, in the meantime the spell checking is o. k.
