Hi! :-)
I just installed TDE (following the official instructions), on a fresh Devuan (stable, x64, console-only) installation. I tried both tde and tdebase metapackages. Everything seems to work good and well, with one exception: Sound doesn't seem to work at all.
It may be related to this issue: https://bugs.trinitydesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3031 However, this isn't the case here, since installing PulseAudio, didn't change anything.
Do you think it's a bug? Any thoughts? TIA! :-) G.

In my experience sound never had something to do with TDe, which is a Desktop Environment.
Do you get sound with another DE? Here my main problem (that I have not really solved) is HDMI. PulseAudio loves to use this, and/or sometimes my "real" soundcard is not initialised, the PA reverts to HDMI.
Did you install all the PA stuff (system tray, volume meter, etc. ? I use these to check.
Thierry

Yes. I also tried LXQt and XFCE. No sound problems.

THANKS Thierry! :-) Yes. I installed the full package (tde-trinity), with all the bells and whistles.

I have lately observed that issue on my Linux Automation platform: http://oscada.org/wiki/Sub-projects/Automation_Linux_distributive
* [Debian 10] Pulseaudio doesn't start in the Live due to ALSA problems
*FIX*=> The option "autospawn=no" in /etc/pulse/client.conf.d/00-disable-autospawn.conf was commented due to it is discouraging mostly KMix and it doesn't detect PulseAudio at the configuration initialisation. The first start yet comes without PulseAudio but it is appeared in the installed system after the rebooting!
Regards, Roman

THANKS Roman! :-)
I commented it out (as it supposed to be at non-systemd installations), I rebooted and this time seem to recognize Pulseaudio. However, it still doesn't work and Kmix indicates it as "muted". Sliding the bar to the top, doesn't change anything. G.

Hi TIA, which version of TDE are you using? Official R14.0.8? Or preliminary stable or testing builds from Slavek? There were issues with kmix and PA which have been addressed partially in R14.0.9-dev and in more depth in R14.1.0-dev. Cheers Michele

Oh, I see... I'm using the official version (NOT the preliminary ones). Well...since these versions has been dealt with this problem, 1) I'm not going to file a bug report and 2) I'll install them instead.
THANKS Michele!!! :-)

No problem Giorgos. Let us know if it works better after that :-) Cheers Michele

Nope! Didn't work either. I/m gona send a bug report and wait for a new version.
Meanwhile, if someone needs a non-systemd Trinity desktop, I tried (and I liked it) the respective community version of PC Linux.
Bye! :-) G.
